Pilates is a form of exercise, developed by Joseph Pilates, which emphasizes the balanced development of the body. Instead of focusing on the superficial muscles, Pilates targets the deep stabilising muscles within the body and practice will improve posture, strength, function and movement of the joints, core strength and flexibility. d and overall wellbeing, and would like to share this passion with you! I have scoliosis and started my journey into Pilates following a recommendation to practice it by my Back Consultant in 2008. I started attending one class a week and soon progressed to two classes a week and not only noticed a vast improvement in my day to day pain reduction, but also a big change in my posture and body shape.

'With Pilates you will feel better in 10 sessions, look better in 20 and have a new body in 30'. With the focus on core stability, benefits of matwork Pilates include longer, leaner muscles, improved posture, reduced risk of injury and enhanced performance of your body. The Pilates exercises are a form of dynamic stabilisation retraining that reconditions the body from the central core. All equipment, including mats, will be provided for you. In some of my session I will use small Pilates equipment such as bands, balls, rollers, toning circles and weights to ensure a challenging and varied class each week. What to wear? Non-restrictive comfortable clothing (t-shirt, leggings, tracksuit) and socks. Trainers are not required

Summer Pilates Term Starts 1st June! 🌿

I’m delighted to share that my Summer Pilates Term begins on Monday 1st June and runs through to Friday 25th July.

This term offers a wonderful variety of classes to suit all abilities, energy levels, and schedules. Whether you’re looking to build strength, improve mobility, or simply carve out some time for yourself, there’s a class for you.

☀️ Busy over the summer?

Drop-in spaces will be available throughout the term, making it easy to fit Pilates around holidays, work, and social plans.

💻 Prefer flexibility?

My Online Monthly Pass allows you to stay connected to your Pilates practice wherever you are, as long as you have an internet connection and space to roll out your mat.

💥 Bonus for full-term bookings:

Clients booking a full term of in-person classes will receive the online subscription completely free as part of their course package.

✨ A Little Reminder About Term Bookings & Missed Classes ✨

As we head into a new term I am so grateful to everyone who joins my Pilates classes each term, your passion and energy make every sessions such a joy.

To help everything run smoothly, here’s a quick reminder of how our term bookings and missed‑class options work:

📌 Term Booking Policy
When you book a space for the term this is reserved for the full term for you. The terms and conditions outline that the course booking is non‑refundable and non‑transferable. Missed classes can be made up within the same term, as long as there’s space in another session.
Missed classes can’t be carried into a new term or half‑term.

Think of it like a gym membership, if you miss a week, a fortnight or even a month at the gym you do not expect a refund from the gym. We’ve all been there, done that and probably got the gym branded T-shirt in the back of our cupboard to prove it. 🫣

However I do offer options to help you keep up with your pilates practice when life gets in the way of you attending your normal class.

💛 Flexible Options for You
I always want you to feel supported in your practice, so term clients also receive:
💻 Free access to all online classes (this is a monthly subscription for non‑term clients)
🧘‍♀️ I offer the option to attend catch‑up classes during the same term, space permitting

Your wellbeing and progress matter to me, and these options are here to help you stay consistent even when life gets busy.

If you ever need help arranging a catch‑up class or accessing the online library, just let me know, I’m always happy to help.

Prioritising Staff Wellbeing at Fullbrook School 🧑‍🎓

Teaching and working in education is one of the most rewarding professions, but it can also be one of the most demanding. That’s why creating space to pause, breathe, and reset isn’t a luxury, it’s essential!

Today I taught a free staff Pilates session to my colleagues at Fullbrook School and 6th Form and it was exactly what everyone needed as we approach the end of another busy week. A chance to stretch, unwind, and let go of the noise that builds up during a busy teaching day.

Investing in staff wellbeing isn’t just about one session, it’s about building a culture where people feel supported, valued, and able to look after themselves as well as they look after their students.

Pilates is just one small way the staff wellbeing team are helping colleagues reconnect, and reduce stress, whether that be through pilates, our sewing club, our book club or simply letting your colleagues know you are there for a cuppa and a quick chat at the end of the day.

Here’s to more moments that help us breathe deeply, and taking time out to take care of the people who take care of so many others.

This Autumn I will be teaching at a truly special Wild Swimming & Pilates Retreat in the heart of the French Pyrenees, and I would love for you to join me.

For five slow, soul-restoring days, we’ll step away from the noise and sink into nature, movement, stillness, and the simple joy of being immersed in water and landscape. Think:

Today I’m celebrating 14 years since becoming a qualified Pilates Mat Instructor.

What an incredible journey it’s been!

Over the past 14 years, I’ve had the privilege of building a strong and loyal client community, many of whom have been with me since that very first year. I’m so grateful for the trust, commitment, and consistency my clients bring to every session.

Watching their strength, confidence, and resilience grow has been the most rewarding part of this career. Without my clients there would be no Pilates Essence, so thank you! Thank you for sharing this journey with me, for trusting me, for believing in me!
