Pilates classes in St. Johns and Bisley. I am a qualified level 3 Matwork Pilates Instructor. Joseph Pilates

What is matwork Pilates? What will you need?

Pilates is a form of exercise, developed by Joseph Pilates, which emphasizes the balanced development of the body. Instead of focusing on the superficial muscles, Pilates targets the deep stabilising muscles within the body and practice will improve posture, strength, function and movement of the joints, core strength and flexibility. I am passionate about the benefits of Pilates on your body, mind and overall wellbeing, and would like to share this passion with you! I have scoliosis and started my journey into Pilates following a recommendation to practice it by my Back Consultant in 2008. I started attending one class a week and soon progressed to two classes a week and not only noticed a vast improvement in my day to day pain reduction, but also a big change in my posture and body shape.

'With Pilates you will feel better in 10 sessions, look better in 20 and have a new body in 30'. With the focus on core stability, benefits of matwork Pilates include longer, leaner muscles, improved posture, reduced risk of injury and enhanced performance of your body. The Pilates exercises are a form of dynamic stabilisation retraining that reconditions the body from the central core. All equipment, including mats, will be provided for you. In some of my session I will use small Pilates equipment such as bands, balls, rollers, toning circles and weights to ensure a challenging and varied class each week. What to wear? Non-restrictive comfortable clothing (t-shirt, leggings, tracksuit) and socks. Trainers are not required

Teaching is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be physically and mentally demanding. Creating even a small window in the school week for teachers to pause, breathe, move and reconnect with their bodies can make such a difference.

For me, Pilates is about so much more than the physical practice. It’s about reducing tension, creating space to breathe, and giving people permission to put themselves first for a little while.
I’m so grateful to Fullbrook School for prioritising staff wellbeing and for allowing me to be part of that journey.
And to all the teachers who turn up, roll out their mats and give themselves that time — thank you. 🧘‍♀️❤️

✨ I’m so excited to finally share this beautiful retreat with you! ✨

I’m absolutely delighted to be collaborating with surreysouls and zero_neuf_ on this retreat!

It’s a collaboration that feels really aligned with what I love to create; bringing people together, creating space to pause, reconnect, and enjoy something truly meaningful.

We’ve been putting lots of love and thought into this, and I am excited to share these details with you and, hopefully, welcome some of you along. 💛

If you’ve been craving some time away, a chance to reset, connect and be looked after, this could be just what you’ve been looking for.

I’m genuinely SO excited about this collaboration and can’t wait to bring it to life! 🌿✨

Last class of the summer term. Pilates with the mini band and ball. We were having way too much fun this evening, so only managed to get a few quick clips; I’ll never look at and her shiny ball in the same light 😆🫣😆

Why add props?

Small pieces of Pilates equipment, such as the mini ball and loop band, can enhance and support your Pilates practice. They can also make exercises more challenging by creating instability, or by shifting your focus from simply performing the movement to concentrating on the technical aspects of it.

This evening was a fun and challenging class, thanks for showing up guys 💋

Throw back to this wonderful session with my fabulous sister in law 5 years ago today 💕 I love nothing more than sharing my passion with Pilates with my friends and family, and this beautiful human has been with me since day dot. She was the ‘body’ in the room at my final Pilates assessment and has been by my side ever since. 💕
