Let's Strike Out the Stigma Around Diabetes!

Diabetes is often misunderstood, but it can affect anyone and requires careful, individual management. Every person’s experience is different, which is why tailored clinical care is so important.

At Apollo Home Healthcare, we are a nurse-led provider of complex clinical care in the home. We support people living with diabetes and other long-term conditions through specialist, person-centred care, helping them manage their condition safely and effectively.

We are committed to ongoing training and development, ensuring our teams have the skills and confidence to deliver safe, high-quality care in the community.

Know the signs:
• Increased thirst
• Frequent urination, especially at night
• Feeling tired more often than usual
• Unexplained weight loss
• Blurred vision
• Cuts and wounds that are slow to heal
• Recurring infections

By understanding the signs and talking openly about diabetes, we can help strike out the stigma and support earlier diagnosis, better management, and improved quality of life. 💚

We’re proud to announce a new partnership between the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) and Apollo Home Healthcare, officially launching on 1st June 2026.

By bringing together our shared knowledge, expertise, and resources, we aim to provide greater support for children and families affected by childhood acquired brain injury and complex healthcare needs.

This partnership will focus on raising awareness, supporting fundraising initiatives, and creating opportunities for collaboration, ensuring families receive support that extends beyond clinical care alone.

Together, we are committed to making sure no child or family faces the challenges of childhood acquired brain injury alone.

We look forward to the positive impact we can create together. 💚

As Action for Brain Injury (ABI) Week comes to a close, we continue to reflect on the importance of specialist rehabilitation, independence, and tailored support for people living with acquired and traumatic brain injuries.

Whilst ABI Week helps raise awareness, the reality is that the need for understanding, consistency, and high-quality specialist support continues every day of the year.

As a complex clinical homecare provider, our aim is to support individuals living with ABI to live a happy, safe and independent life at home. Our approach is built around understanding each person’s unique needs and providing care that adapts with them over time.

Our support can include personal care, medication administration, rehabilitation-focused support, communication and decision-making, community access, and structured routines that support wellbeing and independence.

ABI Week is a powerful reminder of the ongoing impact of brain injury, and the importance of specialist, person-centred care that enables people to live well beyond injury. 💚

At Apollo Home Healthcare, we are proud to support Light Up for ABI Week, raising awareness of Acquired Brain Injury across the UK.

Today, landmarks across the country are lighting up to shine a spotlight on ABI and highlight the challenges faced by individuals and families living with acquired brain injury.

To show our support, our team also wore purple today in commitment to raising awareness.

We’re proud to stand with this important campaign and help bring greater understanding to a condition that affects so many lives.

If you’re near one of the participating landmarks, we encourage you to visit, take a photo of the lights, and share your support on social media using the hashtag 💜

Action for Brain Injury (ABI) Week takes place every May and highlights different aspects of brain injury and its impact. To mark this important awareness week, we’re reflecting on a truly special journey we are privileged to be part of.

Following a stroke and five years in hospital, our client’s return home once felt out of reach. Through a carefully coordinated care package, we supported her transition back home, helping to make what once felt impossible, possible again.

Our team received tailored brain injury training specific to her presentation, enabling them to understand how her condition affects memory, decision-making, and daily living. Care is delivered in a way that nurtures her independence, using simple communication and ensuring the right support is available for more complex decisions.

Alongside daily care, therapeutic support including exercises and music therapy helps aid her ongoing recovery and wellbeing.

Returning home, reunited with her beloved cats, also coincided with her 65th birthday, making it a truly special milestone shared with family and her care team. It was a simple but special day that included sunshine, tea, cake, and plenty of laughter, shared with the people who matter most.

Stories like this sit at the heart of Brain Injury Awareness Week for us, highlighting resilience, the importance of rehabilitation, and the difference that tailored home care can make in supporting people to live well beyond injury. 💚

As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to a close, our focus on mental health continues beyond this week 💚

This year’s theme, Action, encouraged us to take meaningful steps to support mental wellbeing across our organisation. At Apollo Home Healthcare, our action has been to shine a spotlight on our Mental Health First Aiders and the vital role they play in supporting our colleagues.

Our Mental Health First Aiders are available all year round to listen, support, and reassure colleagues in complete confidence whenever they need someone to turn to.

While this week has been a great opportunity to raise awareness and introduce our local MHFA teams, the message remains the same moving forward that support is always available, and conversations about mental health should continue every day, not just during awareness week.

Together, we’re committed to creating a workplace where wellbeing is prioritised, support is visible, and no one feels alone. 💚

Finally, we’re proud to introduce Kathryn, our Mental Health First Aider based in our North West Office. 💚

Our Mental Health First Aiders play an important role in creating a positive and supportive environment for colleagues across the business, providing reassurance, guidance, and a confidential space to talk whenever support may be needed.

By encouraging open conversations and raising awareness of the support available, we continue to promote a workplace culture where wellbeing matters and nobody feels alone.

Thank you, Kathryn, for helping to support the wellbeing of our teams across Apollo Home Healthcare!
