What does good care mean to you?

For us, it's about more than practical support.

It's about kindness, trust and helping people live life on their own terms. It's the relationships built, the confidence gained, and the comfort of knowing someone is there when you need them.

This Good Care Month, we're celebrating the people, moments and connections that make great care possible every day. ✨

Spending time outdoors can be uplifting, especially when it feels calm, familiar, and comfortable.

For those living with dementia, warmer weather can sometimes feel a little overwhelming, so gentle planning can help:

🌳 Choose quiet, shaded places
⏰ Head out during cooler times of day
👕 Keep clothing light and comfortable
💛 Stay close and offer reassurance if needed

Keeping things simple and familiar can help make time outside feel enjoyable and relaxed.

If you’re supporting someone living with dementia, we’ve shared more gentle guidance here:

Whether through visiting care, respite care, or 24-hour live-in care, having the right support in place can help people living with dementia continue to enjoy the moments that matter most.

With temperatures continuing to rise across the UK this week, staying hydrated is more important than ever. ☀️

During hot weather, our bodies need more fluids than usual, and older adults can be particularly vulnerable to dehydration.

Encourage regular drinks throughout the day, whatever feels most enjoyable:
🍓 Fresh fruit with a high water content
☕ Tea or coffee
🥛 Milk or water

Keeping drinks within easy reach and offering gentle reminders can make all the difference. Sometimes, a refreshing drink and a quick check-in are simple ways to help someone stay safe and well during the heat. 💜

☀️ If you would like any further help or guidance, please reach out to your local branch.
