Congratulations to Aisling from Balyna Community First Responders , winner of a ZOLL AED 3 defibrillator at the Respond Conference!

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the CPR Challenge last Saturday.

Participants got to experience first-hand the difference real-time CPR feedback can make, with noticeable improvements in CPR performance while using the ZOLL AED 3.

Earlier this year, the Cloone Defibrillator Group was called into action, responding swiftly to a local medical emergency and highlighting the importance of having trained volunteers ready to help when every second counts.

Thanks to their speedy actions, we had an opportunity to meet with survivor David McKeon and as part of our ‘Forward Hearts’ programme, David received a free defibrillator to donate to an organisation of his choice.

Unfortunately, the defibrillator located outside our Cork office has been stolen. 💔

We are at a loss as to why anyone would do this, as the device is intended solely for use in life threatening emergencies. HSSCU is deeply saddened by this reckless act, which has potentially put lives at risk by removing access to a vital piece of lifesaving equipment.

We are currently working to locate the device. If this is not possible, we will arrange for a replacement to be installed.

If anyone has any information regarding the whereabouts of the stolen defibrillator, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We would also appeal to those responsible to return it. The device is of no value outside of an emergency situation, but it could make all the difference in saving a life.

This AED is no longer supported by Stryker, however this is a great opportunity to trade it in against the next generation Lifepak CR2. The CR2 comes with some great improvements such as:
- Longer battery & pads life
- Self-Monitoring via WiFi or 4G
- cprINSIGHT, analyses and charges during CPR

Happy Birthday to us!
Today on our 20th Birthday we learned that another one of our AEDs was used to save a life. This time of a teenager in the Leinster area. This is why we have been doing what we do for the last 20 years. Our fabulous team recently celebrated with a trip to Palma.

A good news story to go with this lovely weather!
Last year, Philip Mahon was shopping in a major retailer in Sligo when he had a cardiac arrest. Thankfully the retailer decided to install AEDs in their stores a couple of years earlier. Employee and part-time firefighter Bernard sprang into action and saved Philip's life using the store AED.
As part of 'Forward Hearts', this week Philip presented his donated AED to the Surf Centre in Strandhill. 💙
