👋 Meet Katherine!

Next up in our Meet the Team series is Katherine, physiotherapist and Practice Director at You First Physio 💙

🩺 What I love treating most:
I love the variety that physiotherapy brings, but especially enjoy complex cases, persistent pain, osteoarthritis, knee conditions and tendinopathies.

💙 My favourite part of the job:
Helping patients recover, build their confidence and achieve the goals that are important to them.

🏃‍♀️ My top recovery tip:
Motion is lotion! Keep moving and keep your body doing the things it loves.

🏑 My favourite exercise:
Playing hockey! Definitely more fun than the gym when you can chase a ball around with friends.

🐾 Fun fact:
I LOVE animals! I actually wanted to be a vet when I was younger, but was told I was too small. 😂

We’re very glad that veterinary medicine didn’t work out quite as planned… because we’re pretty happy Katherine chose physiotherapy instead! 🥰

Have you met Katherine in the clinic? Make sure to say hi next time you see her! 👋

👋 Meet Nigel!

We’re kicking off our Meet the Team series with Nigel, physiotherapist, Practice Director and one of the familiar faces here at You First Physio.

🩺 What I love treating most:
I really enjoy treating neck conditions in the clinic. More recently, I’ve also loved helping people safely return to work following injury. I enjoy the variety that comes with working across different workplaces, businesses and people throughout Christchurch.

💙 My favourite part of the job:
Seeing patients fully recover and get back to the things that matter to them is incredibly rewarding. As a Practice Director, I also love watching our new graduates and younger clinicians grow into confident physiotherapists and professionals.

🏃‍♂️ My top recovery tip:
“Your best posture is your next posture.”
Keep moving!

💪 My favourite exercise:
Monster walks (lateral band walks) for strengthening those glutes!

⛵ Fun fact:
I’m the proud dad of four beautiful daughters, so I’m definitely outnumbered at home! When I’m not at the clinic, you’ll usually find me waterskiing or boating. I’m also determined to master the foil board one day!

Have you met Nigel in the clinic? Say hi next time you see him! 👋

Our & Beyond Check

Wondering what a postnatal physio check involves?

Your session is tailored to you, but may include:
• A chat about your birth and recovery
• Pelvic floor assessment (if you’re comfortable)
• Abdominal muscle check (for separation)
• Bladder & bowel habits
• Return-to-exercise guidance
• Support for any pain or concerns

It’s about understanding your body after birth and giving you a clear plan moving forward.

✨ Because recovery isn’t just about time, it’s about the right support.
