A recent incident in the Wairarapa highlights the serious consequences of unguarded machinery. A reminder for farmers from WorkSafe New Zealand to ensure all machinery guards, including PTO shaft guards, are in place and regularly checked.

A good reminder that taking a few minutes to check your equipment could prevent life-changing injuries.

❗️ Health & Safety Laws are Changing ❗️

New Zealand's Health and Safety at Work Act is changing, with the amendments coming into effect from 1 April 2027.

One of the biggest changes is a stronger focus on critical risks - the hazards most likely to cause serious harm, illness, or fatalities. Small businesses (fewer than 20 workers) will have proportionate duties focused on managing these critical risks, while larger businesses will continue to manage all risks, with critical risks taking priority.

Now is a great time to review your health and safety systems and make sure they focus on the risks that matter most.

I am proud to announce that during May, we had 26 team members from across our Independent Safety Solutions Bay of Plenty client network come together to support the Heart Foundation challenge.

Together, we raised an incredible $2,618.23 and achieved 1,785.79 kilometres throughout the month. 💪
