Restorative Practice Week

A gentle shoulder opener using a trestler and a brick.

When the body is supported, tension can release and the shoulders can open effortlessly.

Backbend Week

Dwi Pada Viparita Dandasana on a chair is one of the most rewarding supported backbends in the Iyengaryoga.

Benefits:
• Expands the chest and improves breathing capacity
• Mobilizes and rejuvenates the thoracic spine
• Relieves stiffness in the shoulders and upper back
• Stimulates the nervous system and boosts energy levels
• Improves posture and counteracts the effects of long hours of sitting
• Creates a feeling of openness, confidence and emotional uplift

With the support of the chair, the body can relax into the pose, allowing the chest to open deeply while the spine lengthens safely.

This month’s pose is Ubhaya Padangusthasana

A balancing pose that strengthens the core, tones the abdominal organs, improves coordination and develops stability in both body and mind.
This asana helps create lightness in the spine, strengthens the back muscles and teaches balance without tension.

The pose also:
• improves digestion
• strengthens the legs and hips
• opens the chest
• develops concentration and inner steadiness
• helps cultivate awareness of alignment and extension

Practicing with Monica brings a completely different depth. Small actions, subtle adjustments… and suddenly everything changes.

From last year… and still unforgettable.

Adho Mukha Svanasana in pairs — belt at the thighs, heels guided down, spine lengthening with the support of a partner.

This time, Monica brings something new. A new perspective, new work, new depth.

Just over a week to go — don’t miss it.

Only a little over a week to go…

Monica’s restorative and Pranayama class this week was completely full — and for a good reason.

Restorative practice & pranayama — a space to recover, reset, and reconnect.

In this video: Adho Mukha Svanasana on ropes.
The ropes support the body, allowing the spine to lengthen effortlessly, the shoulders to release, and the brain to quieten.

With the ground taken away, there is less pressure on the wrists, more freedom in the breath, and a profound sense of lightness.
The chest opens naturally, circulation improves, and the nervous system begins to settle.

Restorative yoga teaches us not to push — but to receive.
To stay, to observe, to breathe.

Pranayama deepens this experience, guiding the mind inward and creating clarity, balance, and calm.

Sometimes the most powerful practice… is the one where you do less.
