Today, our Shepherd’s Cove team is wearing blue in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month!

Behind every blue shirt is a shared commitment, to protect, to support, and to show up for children and families when it matters most.

At Shepherd’s Cove Grief Support, we see firsthand how grief impacts children. Too often, they are the forgotten mourners, carrying loss in ways that go unseen and unheard. But when grief is supported, healing becomes possible. When children feel safe to express their pain, we are not only caring for them in the present, we are helping prevent deeper struggles in the future.

Because of the Children’s Trust Fund through the Alabama Department of Child Abuse Prevention, Alabama Department of Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention, and the generosity of our supporters, we are able to meet this need every day. Your investment allows us to create safe spaces, provide meaningful support, and walk alongside children as they navigate grief.

Today, we wear blue with gratitude and purpose. Thank you for helping us build stronger, healthier futures for the children in our community.

Wear blue. Stand for hope. 💙

This Friday, April 10th, join us for National Wear Blue Day as we shine a light on child abuse prevention and the power of safe, supportive communities.

Every blue pinwheel, every blue shirt, every shared post represents a commitment to protecting children and supporting families.

And this year, it means even more, because it’s also the day of Race to Remember. As we come together to honor, to remember, and to support, we also stand united for prevention!

📸 Snap a photo in your blue, tag us, and help us spread the message.

Together, we can create a safer, brighter future for every child.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to come together as a community and protect the most vulnerable among us.

At Shepherd’s Cove Grief Support, we believe prevention begins with connection, compassion, and support, especially for children who are grieving. Too often, grieving children are the forgotten mourners. Their loss may be quiet, misunderstood, or even overlooked, but its impact is real and lasting.

Unaddressed grief can increase a child’s risk for emotional struggles, behavioral challenges, and long-term trauma. But when we create safe spaces for children to express their grief, we are not just helping them heal; we are strengthening families and building healthier futures.

We are grateful to be a grant recipient of the Children’s Trust Fund through the Alabama Department of Child Abuse Prevention, which allows us to walk alongside children and families in some of their hardest moments.

This April, we invite you to join us in wearing blue (on April 10th, also Race to Remember Day), sharing hope, and supporting the children in our community who need to be seen, heard, and supported.

As a social worker, Lindsey Graham has walked alongside families as they navigate some of life’s most complex and emotional seasons.

The newly promoted Palliative Care Director serves families every day who are juggling multiple roles as caregivers, decision makers, and sources of strength for the people they love. Through her work in palliative care, our in-school program, bereavement support, and counseling at Shepherd’s Cove, Lindsey has seen firsthand how important it is for caregivers to have support, too.

Part of Lindsey’s passion comes from her own personal growth journey through counseling, an experience that shaped her desire to help others find the same kind of healing and support.

Today, she is committed to creating a safe space for caregivers and families, offering tools, resources, and compassionate guidance to help them navigate difficult moments with confidence and care.

We are grateful for Lindsey’s leadership, her heart for families, and the way she continues to pour that support forward into our community.

At Shepherd’s Cove, compassionate end-of-life care has always been at the heart of everything we do, and interdisciplinary support is a vital part of that care.

For Stacey Johnson, Community Programs Director, that calling began with a deep passion for social work. Over time, that passion grew into a vision, creating a counseling program that supports people in every stage of life while also strengthening the compassionate care we provide through hospice.

Stacey is quick to share that this work is never done alone. She is incredibly proud of the talented, compassionate counseling team that shows up every day to serve our community with empathy and excellence.

Her hope is simple and heartfelt, that this program will continue to grow, continue to serve, and continue to be a blessing to the individuals and families who trust Shepherd’s Cove.

We are grateful for the vision and heart behind Shepherd’s Cove Counseling.

Yesterday, Shepherd’s Cove Bereavement Team had the honor of hosting our Hopeful Hearts event, and our hearts are so full of gratitude.

A special thank you to Local Joes for not only hosting but generously sponsoring the evening. Chef Ben prepared a beautifully crafted meal and dessert that made the time feel even more special. We are incredibly blessed to have the support of local businesses who believe in our mission and stand beside us in serving our community.

To everyone who attended, thank you. Your presence, encouragement, and continued support help keep the mission of Shepherd’s Cove going strong. It is because of this community that Hope continues to shine brightly.
