For Vasile Rosca and his family, hospice care brought something deeply meaningful during a difficult time: peace.

The AdventHealth Hospice team listened to what mattered most to Vasile, honored his wishes and helped his family focus on simply being together.

The experience left a lasting mark on his daughter, Roxy, who later joined AdventHealth Hospice herself.

“Taking care of Dad had been my purpose. And when I didn’t have him anymore, hospice became my purpose.”

For bringing AdventHealth’s faith-based mission to life through compassion, dignity and whole-person care, members of the Central Florida Hospice Team received the Christian Service Award at the 2026 AdventHealth Conference on Mission.

Congratulations to Christina Flagg, Dianna Louis, Renee Brinko, Cynthia Hall, Chaplain David Labrador, Michael McNamee and Dr. Alok Joshi. Thank you for showing how listening, presence and compassion can bring comfort when families need it most.

A summer can shape a future.

This summer, 60 Lake County high school students stepped into hospital life through AdventHealth Waterman’s Teen Summer Volunteer Program, serving patients and discovering more about where their own paths might lead.

For some, it confirmed a future in health care. For others, it simply meant growing confidence, finding purpose and learning the power of showing up for someone else.

Nine weeks. 60 students. A lot of possibilities.

For Ofelia Mendoza, those simple connections helped make the transition home feel a little easier.

Through a partnership with Senior Resource Alliance and Renacer Foundation, AdventHealth is helping older adults access resources that support independence, connection and continued healing at home.

It’s a powerful example of what can happen when health care and local organizations come together to care for the whole person.
