Tito, our Community Liaison, recently attended the Pathways to Recovery Conference, a pivotal event focused on addressing the unique challenges of addiction and behavioral health in Alaska.

The conference brings together professionals, community leaders and advocates to share insights and advance innovative approaches to building a stronger network of care.

With a focus on life-saving strategies, overdose prevention, strengthening treatment and recovery efforts, reducing risk and improving access to services, the event plays a vital role in strengthening Alaska’s response to addiction and behavioral health challenges.

We’re throwing it back to May 7, when we had the opportunity to participate in the Pediatric Behavioral Health Summit in Fairbanks.

We heard important updates from state leaders and connected with organizations dedicated to supporting youth in our community. Key discussions focused on strengthening collaboration, expanding access to services like neuropsychological testing and advancing the use of Rural Health Transformation Funds.

Our team also toured the Behavioral Health Unit and Emergency Department at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where we saw firsthand the challenges of supporting youth in crisis — and the urgent need to connect them to the right level of care quickly.

At North Star Behavioral Health, we’re proud to be part of this continuum, working closely with community partners to ensure youth receive timely, specialized care.
