Congratulations to the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce for receiving the prestigious 5-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce! The Chamber, through the hard work and dedication of their staff, members, and the investment of professional partners, continues to be instrumental in uniting regional chambers, lifting our economy, inspiring entrepreneurship, attracting new opportunity to our blue mountains and fertile farmlands, lobbying for resources, and encouraging a healthier and more resilient community in which to live, work, and play. Way to go team AVLACoC!

Meredith and Mary were excited to join All Souls Board members, corporate supporters, nonprofit collaborators, civic leaders, and almost 800 additional guests, at the June 10th Chamber Annual Meeting held at the OMNI Grove Park Inn. Here are a couple of snapshots of our friends, old and new, spotted during pre-program networking! In the Chamber's own words, "from bold leadership to lasting impact, [everyone] celebrate[d] the momentum being created across our region!"

We extend a huge shout-out to all the inspiring individuals and businesses that were recognized -- from family-owned operations, to outstanding innovators, career champions, nonprofit leaders, and more -- in the last year. Your commitment to our community is truly admirable!

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈

June is a time to honor the history, culture, and ongoing pursuit of equality within the LGBTQ+ community. Members of this community face mental health challenges at disproportionately higher rates than the general population. This makes meaningful support more important than ever.

But true allyship extends beyond June. So what does that look like?

Advocacy. Speak up when something isn’t right. Vote for equality. Volunteer your time to help advocacy groups. Change can’t happen overnight, but consistent advocacy makes a difference.

Education. Learn about the community’s history and current events on your own instead of putting that burden on your LGBTQ+ friends. Stay informed on the political climate and call your representatives!

Celebration. Participate in Pride. Come to events throughout the year. Patronize q***r-owned businesses. These intentional acts of support remind LGBTQ+ individuals that they are valued beyond Pride Month.

Listening. When a q***r person shares their experience with you, listen and validate what you hear. Reflect back what they say to show you’re present. Most people just need to feel heard, not advised.

All Souls stands in support of the LGBTQ+ community and invites you to celebrate the diversity of Pride this month. When we lift up marginalized folks, we lift us all up. Happy Pride, everyone! ☀️

On June 3rd, we hosted our 15th community meal at First Baptist Church in Burnsville, and it was such a special night. Around 40 participants joined us for a delicious spread from Pig and Grits, and the energy in the room was warm, lively, and full of laughter (thanks to Adam for his creative and engaging grounding presentation!).

We were so grateful to be joined by church members, guests, and incredible community partners like Mountain Strong, the newly formed free clinic serving Yancey and Mitchell counties, and the WNC Episcopal Diocese. A huge thank you to Pastor Tommy James for hosting us in the same building where we have our Burnsville counseling office.

We love how Burnsville has welcomed All Souls into its community, and we are so excited to keep growing our work in Yancey County. Here’s to many more community meals together! 🌱

We could not do the work we do without the faithful gifts of our Green Ribbon Society leadership-giving circle and sustaining support.

One special benefit of joining the Society (with a personal or business contribution of $1,200 each year) is the opportunity to socialize and learn during our twice annual intimate educational events.

Our spring reception featured speaker Kevin Westmoreland of Corner Kitchen and Chestnut restaurants, who shared poignant personal and professional insights on the life-changing impact of mental health care. Simply Salads & Charcuterie by Betty provided a stunning grazing table, and the Capital Club's setting and staff were absolutely wonderful.

Thank you to our Green Ribbon Society Members and everyone who made the evening such a success. 💚

Subaru Shares the Love! ❤️

On Wednesday, May 27th, All Souls Staff and Board had the pleasure of visiting Fred Anderson Subaru for their ‘Share the Love’ check presentation. We are so excited to announce that All Souls Counseling Center was awarded $22,100 from the campaign!

This amazing gift will help pay for 340 counseling sessions for individuals in the communities we serve. Thank you so much to Fred Anderson Subaru and their customers for making this gift possible. Partnerships like this allow us to continue to provide affordable and accessible mental health care in WNC.

On May 14th, All Souls staff, donors, sponsors, and friends gathered to celebrate our 4th annual springtime fundraiser, Hope is in Bloom. Held at the Crest Center with a beautiful backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the luncheon brought guests together for an afternoon of connection, a delicious meal, and a shared desire to make mental health care more accessible in Western North Carolina. A huge thank you to our presenting sponsor, First Bank, is in order, as their generous support and dedication to our mission made this event possible.

One highlight of the afternoon came when Mayor Esther Manheimer announced a City of Asheville Proclamation officially designating May 14th, 2026, as “All Souls Counseling Center Day”. All Souls was named as a leading nonprofit provider and community partner for affordable, accessible, high-quality mental health care. We are so thankful to the City of Asheville for recognizing the invaluable work that All Souls gives to the community, and for believing in the importance of mental health care that is available for any individual, regardless of insurance status.
