✍🏻
I am retuning to my clients today. I am glad to see everyone’s faces again.
And I will still be grieving the loss of my sweet, wonderful husband, whom I love very much.
My grief will be present in our sessions, because I am present in our sessions.
Acknowledging our shared humanity and pain creates space for authentic, vulnerable connection.
I am here. We are here. Being REAL is important. Being REAL is therapeutic.
Rose Cactus Therapy will remain 💯 telehealth until it is truly safe to be in person again.

Quote ✍🏻
I have been gone for a while to allow myself time to experience and process my profound grief surrounding a sudden and intimate loss in my life.
This quote resonates so deeply with me in light of my loss and my grief.
I will be returning to my practice in March.
I’ll be bringing my grief with me back into my work - it’s unavoidable because my grief is now part of me, part of who I am. Therapists are people. And people are all a work in progress. That’s the human condition. Holding mindful space for myself and my grief helps me hold mindful space for others.
Integration is another way of saying “yes/and” - the idea that we can hold more than one idea or feeling at a time. Yes I can hold space for myself and space for clients. Yes I can hold space for my grief and still hold space for joy and work. Yes I’m looking forward to being back, and I am still grieving.

Love this. Thank you, Ian.

I’d like to add that checking in regularly with the bereaved goes a long way. Oftentimes when we experience the loss of a loved one, we’re not sure what we need in any exact moment. Even just reaching out to let them know you are thinking about them can make a huge impact.
