Many of you are asking "What is LAMHA's Fisher Project?" Let us tell you.

LAMHA's Fisher Project is a 6-month virtual su***de prevention program. Clients can self-refer or be referred by a behavioral health professional or a family or caregiver. Clients are assigned a supervised peer support specialist who works closely with them throughout the 6 months of the program. The Fisher Project is not a crisis program. It does not require any form of payment or insurance so works in conjunction with therapy or in-patient behavioral health programs.

💙 In the wake of a heartbreaking tragedy, our community showed what it means to come together.

🤝 Through a collaborative effort with the Region 2 Crisis Coalition and an incredible network of partners, volunteers, and mental health professionals, we were able to connect 175 individuals with support, resources, and hope during a time of need.

We extend our sincere gratitude to every organization, volunteer, and community member who dedicated their time, expertise, and compassion to this effort. Your willingness to show up for others made a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected.

🌟 Together, we demonstrated the strength, resilience, and care that define our community. Thank you for helping ensure that support was accessible, conversations were encouraged, and no one had to navigate this difficult time alone.
🫶 When communities come together, healing becomes possible.

Behavioral Health Day 2026

LAMHA appreciates all of those who spoke yesterday, brought tables, or just attended. The gathering is an opportunity for all of us to raise our collective voices for health parity. More importantly, this year, it was a chance to mourn together for the recent tragedies in Shreveport and Baton Rouge. Beyond mourning, it also enabled us to discuss the change and evolution of behavioral health in Louisiana with our legislators. LAMHA calls all advocates to keep up the momentum. Talk to your elected officials and let them know what is happening and what is needed in our state.
