This is not your usual nursing job, this is relationship-based nursing where you help people recover.

At Birch Tree Communities, our nurses help adults living with serious mental illness remain successful in the community by managing complex physical and behavioral health needs. We provide supportive housing and recovery-focused care for approximately 400 members in 12 branches across Arkansas.

Our members often face significant medical challenges in addition to their psychiatric diagnoses. Many require extensive health education, chronic disease management, medication monitoring, assessment, and coordination of care across multiple providers.

This is where our nurses make the difference.

At Birch Tree, nursing is far more than medication administration. Our nurses:

- Perform comprehensive health assessments
- Identify changes in physical and behavioral health status
- Manage chronic medical conditions
- Educate members about medications and healthy living
- Coordinate care among primary care providers, specialists, pharmacies, hospitals, and behavioral health professionals
- Advocate for members across complex healthcare systems
- Serve as clinical leaders within an interdisciplinary treatment team

BINGO, COMMUNITY, AND A WHOLE LOT OF FUN! Evergreen members had a blast sponsoring the recent Greenbrier Senior Citizens Bingo event!

Giving back to others, making new connections, and getting involved in the community are all part of what makes experiences like these so special. Our members had a wonderful opportunity to serve others while building social skills and strengthening community connections.

Sometimes, the smallest moments can make the biggest difference.

We want to share a story that truly reflects the heart of Birch Tree Communities and the dedication of our staff to the people we serve.

Recently, one of our therapists sat down with a member and helped him wash his feet. For this member, accepting help with such a personal task was a significant moment. He experiences times when the symptoms of his mental illness are overwhelming and has difficulty trusting others. Yet, through the consistent kindness, patience and respect shown by our staff, he felt safe enough to accept that help.

It may seem like a simple act, but it was so much more than that. It was a moment of trust. A moment of connection. A reminder that showing up with compassion, day after day, can make a lasting impact.

Moments like these remind us why our work matters. At Birch Tree Communities, we strive to be a beginning, not an end—helping our members find hope, build trust, discover their strengths and move toward the lives they want to live.

These principles are at the heart of everything we do. They are known as the Intentions of Birch Tree Communities and serve as the foundation for our relationships with our members and the recovery environment we strive to create.

Only $5 per person, and we'll have some art and silent auction items up for bid to raise funds for holiday gifts for our members. 🎉The 52nd Annual Old Fashioned Day is coming to downtown Benton on Saturday, October 10, 2026!

Kick off the big day with the 🥞 $5 Pancake Breakfast 7-9AM at Benton FUMC's CLC on W. Sevier St.

Then head over to the 🔔 Saline County Courthouse from 9AM-4PM, where we'll have 100+ vendors, 🚐Food Trucks galore, and 🎸Live Music from Copper Flats, Casey Penn, 🪕and the Retro Rose Talent Show!

🔨This year we have Leather & Blacksmith demonstrators and 🚜Antique Tractors on display!

We'll have the Beard and Mullet Contests again, but we've added a Moustache Contest!

🍗 For food, there's BBQ, cheesesteak, funnel cakes, lemonade, kettle corn, catfish, frozen treats and more!

There will also be a kid zone with Inflatables, Carnival rides and a Kiddie Train 🚂 that circles the courthouse.

The Boys & Girls Club Stage will host 🎤Musical, Cheer and Gymnastics Performances.

It's going to be great fun all day so bring a big shopping bag, a chair 🪑and family and friends!

Old Fashioned Day is a fundraiser for the Senior Center programs! 🛍️ Come join us to shop, eat, play, and support this great cause!

A little cloudy, cool weather couldn’t put a damper on the 2026 Birch Tree Communities Family & Friends Day!

We had a wonderful turnout for a delicious picnic, family information session, games, ice cream, and special member recognition. This is one of our favorite events each year because it gives our members, staff, families, and loved ones the opportunity to spend time together, make memories, and enjoy a day away from the branches.

A huge thank-you to our friends at Sysco for their generous food donations, Chris Owen for cooking up the delicious BBQ and sides, and all of our staff who helped with setup, serving, and cleanup. We couldn’t do it without you!

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this year’s Family & Friends Day so special! We’re already looking forward to next year!

Thinking Outside the Box in Mountain View! 👏

Our Mountain View team has been getting creative with activities designed to get members up and moving, participating, connecting with one another, and learning along the way!

From playing life-size Battleship to build listening and social skills, to joining a group with the Dietary Director to learn more about their palates, members have been having fun while trying new things. There was plenty of laughter, and even some members who sometimes struggle with participation found themselves enjoying these new experiences.

The team also expanded members’ cultural knowledge by learning about Sukkot, the Jewish harvest festival. Members built a sukkah, an outdoor shelter traditionally used during the holiday, and enjoyed homemade traditional bread as they learned more about the meaning and traditions of Sukkot.

We love seeing the creativity and enthusiasm coming out of Mountain View! Keep thinking outside the box and creating fun, meaningful experiences for our members!
