The UAB School of Nursing DNP Nurse Executive Pathway is designed for experienced nurse leaders with a master’s in nursing, business or health administration. This practice‑focused terminal degree prepares students for executive health system leadership roles, including Chief Nursing Officer or Chief Nursing Informatics Officer.

The application deadline for Spring 2027 admission is October 15.

The Alabama Emergency Nurses Association-ALENA is recognizing Associate Professor Melanie Gibbons Hallman and DNP student and UAB Hospital Emergency Nurse Practitioner Andrew Semegram for their excellence and contributions to advanced practice emergency nursing. Hallman is the recipient of the Outstanding Emergency Nurse Educator Award, and Semegram is the recipient of the Excellence in Advanced Practice Emergency Nursing Award.

The UAB School of Nursing was honored to welcome Dr. Fayron Epps as the keynote speaker of the 35th Dr. Jean A. Kelley Lecture, where she presented “My Journey to Healing Communities Facing Dementia.”

The Dr. Jean A. Kelley Endowed Lectureship, established in 1989 to honor the retiring Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, welcomes a speaker each year who exemplifies Dr. Kelley’s dedication to education and excellence. The Lectureship symbolizes her legacy of mentoring students, graduates and colleagues and sustains her belief that established scholars should guide and encourage the scholars of the future.
