Meet Amanda Byrd, M.S. CCC-SLP β€” our Co-Vice President for Governmental Relations!

Amanda is a University professor who brings a genuine passion for advocacy to her role on the PSHA board. Her focus this year? Helping members develop their own advocacy skills and making sure the voices of our profession are heard loud and clear in Harrisburg and beyond.

We love her fun fact too: she takes figure skating lessons to keep up with her kids! πŸ™Œ

PSHA members are making waves in Pittsburgh! πŸ’™

We are proud to highlight Gretchen Meyers, M.S., CCC-SLP and Amber Vecchio, PMP, CF APMP, who presented at the Apraxia Kids Conference in Pittsburgh on June 10th. Their session, "Navigating Insurance When Your Child Needs Therapy" tackled one of the most pressing challenges families face when accessing the care their children need.

Gretchen serves on PSHA's Private Practice Committee and is a member of the Medicaid Tri-Alliance Task Force. Amber brings her perspective as a member of PSHA's Client, Parent, and Caregiver Advisory Panel and as a CAS parent herself.

Together, they brought clinical expertise and lived experience to a room full of professionals and families who needed exactly that. This is what advocacy and community look like in action! πŸ’ͺ

A big thank you to both of them for representing PSHA and for advancing the conversation around access to care. We are honored to have members who show up like this.
