Thank you for welcoming Jake and giving him a firsthand look at a career in physical therapy! We are so grateful for amazing business partners like you who generously share their time and expertise to help students explore their futures. ❤️

We loved having Jake, as senior at Regina Catholic Schools , shadow our clinic yesterday morning as part of the Workplace Learning Connection job shadow program.

We love partnering with this amazing organization. Workplace Learning Connection (WLC) provides career exploration opportunities for middle school and high school students. From speaker events and career fairs, to job shadow and internship opportunities (and so much more!). Workplace Learning Connection also helps educators develop career preparation and exploration programs that truly make an impact, while helping businesses connect with the workforce of tomorrow.

We wish Jake the best of luck pursuing physical therapy, or any other career he might discover through WLC and beyond ❤️🖤

This week, we are kicking off our first-ever Take a Peek Career Week!

Approximately 750 students from 42 high schools across our region will step out of the classroom and into local workplaces to explore careers firsthand.
From healthcare and public safety to skilled trades, business, agriculture, media, and more, students will have the opportunity to learn directly from professionals and see what a day in their future career might look like.

Take a Peek Career Week allows us to showcase in a few days, the work that happens across our region all year long. Every school year we connect thousands of students with local employers for meaningful career exploration experiences.

Thank you to the 52 employers opening their doors and investing in our future workforce. We can't wait to share the experiences and stories from the week!

WLC Partner Spotlight - Athletico Physical Therapy in Belle Plaine

Athletico Physical Therapy in Belle Plaine has been a valuable partner to Workplace Learning Connection. This year, they have hosted two WLC interns, giving students the opportunity to explore careers in physical therapy. Over the past 14 years, they have also welcomed 15 students for job shadows.

“It is such a valuable opportunity for high school students to get a feel for a possible career path prior to their high school graduation and to be able to start preparing for that career path. The students we have hosted have been prepared, enthusiastic, and extremely polite.

Do you have a career in a STEAM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Math)?

Join us in inspiring the next generation of innovators! STEAM Institute provides area middle school students with the opportunity to engage in hands-on, interactive sessions led by professionals.

Linn County STEAM Institute will be held in Hiawatha, December 14-17, 2026

As a presenter, you’ll showcase your career through engaging 30-minute sessions that spark curiosity and creativity—more show than tell! Events are held at the Kirkwood Regional Centers.
