The UNC Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program is pleased to announce that, effective October 1, Jake Stein, MD, MPH, has stepped into the role of AYA Medical Director! A medical oncologist with a clinical specialty in sarcoma and research centered on improving care delivery and quality, Dr. Stein focuses on addressing the unique needs of adolescents and young adults. Since joining the AYA Program as its inaugural AYA Oncology Liaison in 2022, he has helped advance clinical care, research, and quality improvement efforts for young people with cancer. As Medical Director, Dr. Stein will guide the program’s clinical strategy and support continued efforts to expand high-quality, developmentally appropriate AYA cancer care. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Stein and welcoming him into this new leadership role. We are excited for the expertise, thoughtfulness, and deep commitment to young people with cancer that he will continue to bring to the UNC AYA Cancer Program.

Join us for the Teen Support Group Kick-Off. Come connect with other teens who have been through something similar, eat pizza, and help decide what this group becomes.

No need to have the right words. You can talk, listen, or just lock in on the pizza.

Open to UNC patients ages 13–21 who have been seen at the UNC Pediatric Oncology Clinic for a current or past cancer diagnosis.
