Apparently we’re learning how birth works with flowers now. 🌸
Because you can hear “effacement, dilation, station, rotation” approximately 700 times and still be thinking… okay, but what does that actually LOOK like?
So we’re making it make sense.
From a thick, closed cervix ➡️ thinning and opening ➡️ baby moving down ➡️ that infamous ring of fire ➡️ the final rotation ➡️ that first cry.
And apparently, if you’ve been a birth + postpartum doula, childbirth educator, infant feeding specialist, and newborn care specialist long enough, you will instinctively swaddle literally anything placed in front of you.
Including flowers.
Muscle memory is a hell of a thing. 😂
Put a bow on it and there you have it: your little pumpkin. 🎃
Birth education doesn’t have to be clinical, intimidating, or a bunch of vocabulary you’re expected to memorize. I want you to actually understand what your body and your baby are doing, because when labor starts, “I remember the flower thing” is infinitely more useful than trying to recall page 47 of a workbook.
This is how we Doula Differently.
