The mental health needs of children and teens continue to grow, along with the need for effective solutions.

For years, researchers and clinicians at Cincinnati Children's have been developing and studying a coordinated care model designed to prevent behavioral health crises before they require emergency or inpatient care. Their findings showed a 25% reduction in behavioral health emergency department visits and a remarkable 58% reduction in hospital admissions.

By improving early identification, strengthening follow-up, and connecting families with support sooner, this approach has made a measurable difference. It highlights an important message for families: when concerns are identified early and support is connected, children and teens can get the right help at the right time, often before a crisis develops.

Clinical trials help turn today’s discoveries into tomorrow’s treatments, therapies and cures. This Clinical Trials Day, we recognize the study participants and families who make research possible at Cincinnati Children's.

Every study helps researchers better understand childhood diseases and improve care for kids everywhere. Some studies focus on children with specific health conditions, while others rely on healthy participants to help researchers understand how children grow, develop and respond to new approaches to care.

Together, these studies move pediatric medicine forward.

Today is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day, and May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to recognize the importance of mental health for children and families. 💚

At Cincinnati Children's, researchers are working to better understand, diagnose, and treat pediatric mental health conditions. Our teams are uncovering early indicators of risk, improving screening and intervention methods, and developing new approaches to care that extend beyond hospital walls.

We’re currently recruiting for multiple mental health research studies for children and adults: https://ow.ly/YbJn50YW2yn
