Our mission is to provide quality health care, at no cost, to residents of our community who cannot

For 30 years, The Free Medical Clinic in Columbia has provided quality health care at no cost to Midlands residents who do not have the financial resources or health insurance. Through the efforts of dedicated volunteers and staff, The Free Medical Clinic provides and coordinates health care services to patients between the ages of 18 and 64 for a variety of medical conditions and chronic diseases

. The Free Medical Clinic is able to offer services and medication at no cost thanks to support form Lexington Medical Center, Palmetto Health, Providence Hospitals, United Way of the Midlands, corporations such as BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, organizations including the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, faith-based groups and community member contributions.

Sometimes patients come to us needing specialized treatment or care. George needed to relieve some pain in his knees and we were able to provide him some much-needed relief by way of a very large *shivers* needle. If we can't provide that treatment here, we are able to refer it out to one of our many community health partners. We are proud to serve all patients with no health insurance and low to no income. Thank you, George, for letting us share your *shivers* story.

It's not goodbye, but rather see you soon, Kaylee! Two weeks ago, Kaylee spent her last shift as a Nurse Practitioner student with the University of South Carolina here at the Free Medical Clinic. Considering she was a volunteer as an undergraduate student we are confident warm and welcoming presence will once again be offering hope to our patients who need our services. Congratulations on your next step Kaylee!

We are proud to announce that we have received a grant of $80,300 from United Way of the Midlands. This generous support will enable us to continue to serve the uninsured patients of Richland, Lexington and surrounding counties throughout the coming year. We are grateful for the United Way for their continued support and partnership in making a difference in our community.

We just got some exciting news. The Free Medical Clinic has been upgraded to Platinum Transparency by . This is the highest level of transparency a non-profit can achieve and shows that your dollar counts when you give to help us serve those who need us.

Did you know?

The Free Medical Clinic can provide professional interpretation services in more than 115 languages, ensuring every patient can communicate clearly and confidently with their healthcare team, sometimes, that translation can be provided by our very own team.

Recently, one of our newest volunteers, Omar, was able to help care for two of our longtime patients by communicating with them in a combination of Hindi and Urdu. His ability to connect with them in their own languages helped ensure they felt heard, understood, and supported throughout their visit.

Thank you, Omar, for sharing your time, your talents, and your heart. Volunteers like you help us provide care with the dignity, compassion, and respect every patient deserves.

We love our patients at The Free Medical Clinic and they love us! Kimberly visited us this week and couldn't help but share her joy with staff and volunteers declaring "I love it here. I don't know what I would have done without The Free Medical Clinic"

Patients like Kimberly are what help us drive our mission to provide high-quality care, at no cost, to residents of the community who cannot pay for such services and who have no health insurance.

Our clinic is open Mon-Thurs, 7:30 to 4:30 and Friday, 7:30 - 12:00.

Meet Tyson, pictured with Medical Assistant Amy, who is celebrating his acceptance to The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville this year after learning "compassion, advocacy and what it truly means to care for people".
