Addiction is Real, Inc. That’s why it is so important that parents build a strong relationship with their kids and talk to them early and often about substance use. No one is immune.

THERE IS POWER IN BEING A PARENT

Research shows that the main reason why kids choose not to use alcohol, tobacco, or drugs is because of their PARENTS – because of their positive influence and because they know it would disappoint them. We’re here to help you have those conversations. To help lay a strong foundation for your kids so that they can stand on their own two feet and withstand the pressures of drug use. We’re all in this together.

Healthy routines can be visible, too. 💚

A teen’s room may offer small clues about how well their physical needs and daily routines are being supported:

💧 Reusable water bottles or signs of regular hydration
🏃 A gym bag, athletic gear, or equipment that’s being used
😴 A bed and bedroom routine that support sleep—not just late-night scrolling
🍎 Food and snack wrappers that reflect typical eating habits rather than noticeable, ongoing changes in eating patterns

Sleep, nutrition, hydration, and movement all play an important role in a young person’s overall well-being. Significant changes in sleeping or eating patterns can also be a reason to check in and see how they’re doing.

The goal isn’t to inspect or judge—it’s to notice changes, stay curious, and keep communication open.

Healthy routines support healthy coping. Connection helps protect both.

When engagement with learning fades, it may be time to check in.❤️

A teen’s space can sometimes reflect changes in their connection to school and learning:

📅 No planner, calendar, or visible assignments
📚 Few signs of books or learning materials being used
🖥️ A study space that has become unused or nonfunctional
📄 An absence of school projects or work they once took pride in

This isn’t about straight A’s, a perfectly organized desk, or one missing homework assignment. Look for changes in patterns. A noticeable loss of interest, motivation, or participation may signal that your teen is struggling or feeling disconnected.

Start with curiosity, not criticism. Ask what’s making school difficult. Listen. Help them identify small steps toward feeling engaged again.

Disengagement with learning can signal a loss of direction. Connection and support can help them find their way forward.
