🦓During EDS and HSD Awareness Month, our Jessica Wood, OTD, OTR/L, BCP, had the pleasure of presenting at the EDS ECHO for Allied Health Professionals, North America, on the relationship between ✨Sensory Integrative Dysfunction and Hypermobility✨
🦓Did you know?
**Over 50% of those with Autism Spectrum Disorder
(ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) present with significant hypermobility, compared to ~ 20% in general population.
**Greater prevalence of ASD and hypermobility in woman (44.7%) versus men (21.6%)
**Hypermobility is often associated with the presence of one or more neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism and ADHD.
**Individuals with EDS are reported to be 7.4 times more likely to be autistic than a comparison group.
✨Sensory issues don’t magically go away when you turn 18…adults also struggle with issues, it just looks different! If you have questions or concerns, reach out!
