Meet Ann Workmeister, LGPC, NCC 🌿

Life is full of transitions — some we plan for and others that catch us completely off guard. Ann is passionate about helping clients navigate those seasons with compassion, curiosity, and room for growth.

Whether it’s starting college, becoming a parent, entering an empty-nest season, navigating menopause, retirement, or simply realizing that old patterns no longer serve you, Ann believes change can be an opportunity to reconnect with yourself and move forward with greater confidence.

In the therapy room, Ann brings warmth, authenticity, and a little optimism to even the “sticky spots.” Outside of it, you’ll likely find her enjoying nature, gardening, practicing Pilates, reading, or spending time with her scruffy rescue pup, Henry. 🐾

For Ann, one of the best parts of this work is watching clients begin to honor and trust themselves.

We’re so happy to have Ann as part of the Peace of Mind team. 💙

Join Stacy Doak, LCPC, and Anne Erbe, LCPC for a free EMDR Educational Session at The Sophia Ann Center in Frederick on Saturday, September 19 from 9:30–11:00 AM.

We’ll explore what EMDR is, the brain’s natural ability to heal, the 8 phases of EMDR therapy, and how nervous system regulation can support the healing process. We’ll also practice a short resourcing activity and leave plenty of time for your questions. 💭

From Maryland to California ✈️🌴

Stacy took us along for a look back at her experience at the 2026 EMDRIA Conference in Anaheim, California — with fellow POM therapist Kionna joining her for the experience!

Three days surrounded by professionals committed to learning, connection, and advancing the work of EMDR — and plenty of moments worth bringing back home to Peace of Mind.

We love seeing our clinicians invest in continued growth, expand their knowledge, and experience opportunities like these together.

🎥 Here’s a look back at their time in California, with Stacy taking us through the experience.

September is Su***de Prevention Month. 🌿

Su***de prevention starts with connection — checking in, listening without judgment, and reminding someone that they don’t have to carry everything alone.

If you’re struggling, or you’re worried about someone you love, support is available:

📞 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 — free, confidential, and available 24/7

📍 Frederick County Walk-In Crisis Care Center: 340 Montevue Lane, Frederick, MD — open 24/7

📞 Frederick County Crisis Hotline: 301-662-2255 — available 24/7

📞 211 Maryland: Call 211 to connect with local mental health and community resources

🚨 Immediate danger: Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department

You don't have to wait until things feel unbearable to reach out. Asking for help is a form of strength, and sometimes the most important thing
we can do is simply stay connected. 💙
Save this post. Share it with someone who may need it. And check in on the people you care about.

🌟 POM SPOTLIGHT: MEET SHAUNTE! 🌟

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Shaunte, our Executive Administrative Assistant and one of the many people who brings something special to Peace of Mind. ❤️

At POM, Shaunte plays an important role on the administrative side of the practice, helping with everything from scheduling and day-to-day coordination to payroll, budgets, and supporting the needs of our team. She’s thoughtful, dependable, organized—and always finds a way to keep things fun around the office. 😂

But there’s much more to Shaunte than her role at POM!

🦷 She’s also a Registered Dental Hygienist with nearly 16 years in the dental field, bringing years of experience caring for and connecting with patients.

❤️ She’s a devoted wife and mom, and the same thoughtfulness she brings to her family and friendships shows up in the way she cares for the people around her.

😂 And if you know Shaunte, you know there’s probably a laugh, joke, or little bit of mischief coming at some point. She has a way of making sure there’s never a shortage of personality or fun wherever she is!

Shaunte brings together professionalism, heart, humor, and a genuine willingness to show up for others—and today, we wanted our community to get to know a little more about the woman behind the role.

✨ This is Shaunte—and we’re glad she’s part of the POM family. ❤️

Back-to-school doesn’t have to mean doing everything perfectly from day one. 📚
Whether you’re packing lunches, preparing classrooms, navigating a new schedule, or helping your child adjust, focus on the small things within your control.

Save this for the weeks when everything feels like a lot. 💭🌿

Want more support for navigating the back-to-school transition? Check out this month’s blog for practical tips and reminders to help make the transition a little smoother.

Big changes can bring big feelings. 💛

As kids head into new classrooms, routines, friendships, and expectations, those feelings don’t always come out in words. Sometimes they look like tears. Frustration. Worry. Or even a stomach ache.

Our kids’ space gives children room to express themselves in the ways that come naturally to them—through play, creativity, conversation, and connection.

Because therapy isn’t about “fixing” a child. It’s about helping them understand what they’re feeling and giving them tools to navigate it. 🧸✨

A safe space. A trusted connection. A place to grow.

🐾 Dog Days of Summer at Peace of Mind 🐾

Meet a few of the four-legged members of the Peace of Mind family! While they may not all work in our offices, they each play an important role in the lives of our clinicians by offering companionship, comfort, and plenty of reasons to smile.

Did you know spending time with dogs can actually support your mental health?

🐶 1. They help reduce stress.
Petting a dog has been shown to lower cortisol (the body’s primary stress hormone) while increasing oxytocin, the hormone associated with connection and calm.

❤️ 2. They remind us to stay present.
Dogs naturally model mindfulness. Whether they’re enjoying a walk, chasing a ball, or simply resting beside you, they invite us to slow down and experience the present moment.

🌿 3. They encourage connection and routine.
Caring for a pet can create healthy daily routines, increase physical activity, and even lead to more social interaction—all of which are protective factors for emotional well-being.

Mental health support comes in many forms. While our furry friends aren’t a replacement for therapy, they can be wonderful companions on the journey toward healing.

We’d love to meet your pets! 🐕🐈
