Each year, the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research proudly supports Relay For Life of Frederick County, MD. Last Friday, 26 employees came together to participate in this meaningful community event.

Throughout the evening, employees stayed engaged in a variety of activities. Volunteers assembled chemo care bags for patients at the James M. Stockman Cancer Institute at Frederick Health, walked laps in honor of cancer survivors and in memory of those lost to the disease, enjoyed carnival games hosted by fellow teams, and shared picnic-style food provided by colleagues.

One in five children in Frederick County faces food insecurity. To help meet this critical need, 36 employees recently volunteered to pack 1,250 bags of food for local children. These bags support students who rely on FCPS Maryland for their weekday meals.

Through the efforts of Blessings in a Backpack Frederick Chapter, a local nonprofit, this food is sent home with students each Friday, helping ensure they have nourishment over the weekend.

This marks the tenth year that Leidos Biomedical Research, operator of the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, has supported the event.
