Those little red spots that seem to appear out of nowhere as we age? They're called cherry angiomas—common, harmless growths made up of tiny blood vessels. While they aren't dangerous, many patients choose to remove them for cosmetic reasons.

One of my favorite treatments for cherry angiomas is the VBeam® Pulsed Dye Laser. This laser specifically targets the blood vessels within the lesion, allowing us to remove them with little to no downtime and without scarring.

This patient had a dark spot under the eye that had been present for more than 10 years. Friends, family, and even strangers would often ask if it was a bruise.

Before discussing treatment, we performed a thorough evaluation and testing to rule out skin cancer and confirm the lesion was benign. Once we had that reassurance, we created a treatment plan using one of my favorite technologies for stubborn pigmentation: the Spectra® Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser.

The Spectra laser can target both superficial and deeper pigment, making it an excellent option for a variety of pigment concerns, including:
✔️ Sun spots
✔️ Flat seborrheic keratoses (“age spots”)
✔️ Freckles
✔️ Melasma
✔️ Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
✔️ Hemosiderin staining (often related to swelling)
✔️ Certain birthmarks and other pigmented lesions

The result? A significant improvement in the appearance of a spot that had been bothering this patient for over a decade.
