A reminder for the mom who needed this today:

You are not failing.
You are not weak.
You are not the only one feeling this way.

Motherhood is hard, and getting support is not something to feel ashamed of. It’s something to feel proud of 🤍

Healing is possible.

To the teachers (and school social workers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and psychologists) finishing up another school year… this one is for you 🤍

You made it! After months of early mornings, behaviors, lesson plans, parent emails, meetings, classroom chaos, and carrying so much for so many kids… you made it.

A few things we hope you remember this week:

You don’t have to earn rest.
Being tired doesn’t mean you’re failing.
And summer doesn’t have to magically undo burnout overnight.

Sometimes when life slows down, we finally notice just how much we’ve been holding. Summer can be a meaningful time to tend to your own mental health.

We hope this summer feels like a deep breath. You deserve it ☀️🤍

Send this to a teacher (or other professional who works in a school) who you’re proud of.

We’re honored to be sponsoring the 3rd Annual Love for Lily Market Fundraiser happening this Sunday! 🤍

Join us for a beautiful day of shopping, food, music, family fun, and community, all in support of an incredibly meaningful cause.

This special event honors a special little girl in our Grand Rapids community and helps raise funds for the Hope for PDCD Foundation, supporting critical research and awareness for children living with Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex Deficiency (PDCD), a rare, life-limiting metabolic disease.

You can expect artisan vendors, live music & performers, food trucks & delicious vendors, beer & wine, raffle prizes, and activities for kids of all ages

At Clark Counseling, we care deeply about supporting families through life’s hardest seasons and are grateful to be a small part of this meaningful event.

We hope to see you there this Sunday, June 7th, from 11-4pm at the Fulton Street Farmers Market!

We are so excited to welcome Jessie Kopmeyer, LMSW to the Clark Counseling team! ✨

Jessie is passionate about creating a warm, supportive space where women feel truly seen, heard, and empowered as they navigate life’s challenges. She works with women experiencing anxiety, depression, binge eating, body image concerns, life transitions, and the overwhelming weight that life can sometimes bring.

She is especially passionate about supporting women during the reproductive and parenting years, including those navigating fertility struggles, pregnancy and postpartum challenges, identity shifts in motherhood, birth trauma, anxiety, depression, and pregnancy loss. Jessie deeply values walking alongside women during these vulnerable seasons and helping them feel less alone in their experience.

Jessie believes that you are the expert of your own life and approaches therapy with warmth, compassion, and collaboration as she helps clients move toward healing, hope, and greater confidence in themselves.

Jessie is now accepting new clients for virtual sessions across Michigan.

Sometimes healing in adulthood looks like something unexpected: beginning to see your parents as human. That they aren’t perfect, all-knowing, capable of always getting it right; they have always been people living life for the first time.

And for many of us, parenting has a way of bringing this into focus in an entirely new way. You suddenly realize how exhausting, vulnerable, overwhelming, and beautiful caring for little humans can be. You begin to understand things you couldn’t before.

That understanding doesn’t erase hurt or excuse harmful things; sometimes it can make space for compassion, grief, empathy, and healing.

This week’s Music Monday: First Time On Earth 🤍

This week our team had the chance to spend time with Shelby Baker, LMSW from West Michigan Eating Disorder Specialists learning more about eating disorders and disordered eating.

We talked about how struggles with food and body image can show up in ways that are often misunderstood and how these challenges can overlap with anxiety, perfectionism, and identity.

We’re so grateful for providers in our community who share their knowledge and help us continue growing so we can care for our clients well 🤍

“I don’t know why I’m so angry lately.” We hear versions of this from moms all the time. Usually It’s not just anger…Mom rage often shows up when your nervous system has been running on empty for too long. It's when you’re tapped out, overstimulated, sleep-deprived, carrying the mental load, trying to hold everything together, and feeling like there’s no room for your own needs.

Sometimes it sounds like:
“Why am I snapping at everyone?”
“I feel guilty after I yell.”
“I love my kids so much, but I feel angry all the time.”
“This doesn’t feel like me.”

Here’s what we want you to know: rage doesn’t make you a bad mom. It could be pointing to burnout, anxiety, depression, unrealistic pressure, relationship stress, hormonal shift, or a postpartum mood or anxiety disorder (PMAD).

You are not the only mom who has hidden in the bathroom crying after losing her patience. You are not failing. But you don’t have to keep white-knuckling your way through motherhood alone.

At Clark Counseling, we support women through pregnancy, postpartum, anxiety, overwhelm, and the parts of motherhood people don’t always talk about.

Ready to start when you are 🤍

A little re-introduction: I’m Christen Clark (the one posting behind the scenes on this account)!

So many of the women I work with are the ones everyone else depends on.

They’re capable, thoughtful, responsible, and often carry more than anyone realizes.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, OCD, or the overwhelm that can come in pregnancy or postpartum you don’t have to figure it out alone.

It’s okay to be the one who gets support, too. 🤍

Music Monday 🎧

“There’s always been a rainbow hanging over your head.”

Some seasons feel heavy for longer than you expected.
Maybe you’re exhausted from holding it together.
Maybe anxiety has become so normal you barely notice how tense you are anymore.
Maybe motherhood, grief, or life in general has left you feeling unlike yourself.

This song feels like a reminder that hard seasons are not the whole story.

To the moms who are overwhelmed.
The moms carrying invisible mental loads.
The moms grieving miscarriages, infertility, or pregnancy loss.
The moms navigating postpartum anxiety or depression while trying to smile through it.
The single moms.
The waiting moms.
The exhausted moms.
The moms doing their best even when it doesn’t feel like enough

We see you 🤍

This Mother’s Day, we hope you experience support and the reminder that you matter too.

Love,
Clark Counseling
