Sheldon Clubhouse was honored to participate in the 10th Annual Statewide Employment Celebration at the Michigan Capitol this week, recognizing employers who are helping create pathways to recovery through meaningful work.

This year, we proudly recognized the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids for its partnership and commitment to providing employment opportunities for individuals living with mental illness. We were especially proud to celebrate our member, Ed, whose employment at the YMCA demonstrates the power of meaningful work to support recovery, build confidence, and create opportunities to contribute to the community.

Congratulations on this well deserved recognition, and thank you to Senator Winnie Brinks for helping us honor this exceptional community partner!

As U.S. Clubhouse Week of Action comes to a close, we are grateful for the opportunity to welcome Commissioner Melissa LaGrand to Sheldon Clubhouse this week for a tour, meaningful conversation, and connection with our members.

Members shared their experiences and discussed the important role Clubhouse plays in supporting goals related to employment, education, wellness, connection, and recovery. Conversations like these help build greater understanding of the importance of community based mental health supports and the impact they have on individuals and our community as a whole.

As programs of Cherry Health, Sheldon Clubhouse and our sister program Lakeside Clubhouse provide community based, recovery oriented services that empower people living with serious mental illness to pursue goals in employment, education, housing, and wellness.
