I have searched for over 25 years for a way to stay in the beauty industry without betraying myself.
I became an esthetician in 2000.
My first position was in a day spa and salon, and while I loved caring for people, I found myself wondering…
😤Why are women taught to compete with one another?
The gossip, comparison, and subtle ways we were encouraged to measure ourselves against each other felt awful.
Thinking a more medical environment would feel different, I accepted a position with a plastic surgeon.
Instead, I found myself in a culture where women were rewarded for believing they needed fixing. We celebrated surgery sales. Perfection became the goal.
My nervous system knew this wasn’t the path.
After experiencing a tragedy, I moved west, where I discovered holistic healing. I began working in a spa that embraced more natural approaches, and for the first time, I felt closer to the kind of care I wanted to offer..and not quite it.
Even in a holistic setting, there were moments where I felt I was participating in the message that a woman’s body needed to be altered before it could be beautiful.
When I returned to Pittsburgh, I partnered with my then fiancè in his existing wellness center where I began weaving together organic skincare with energy healing and the opening a yoga studio…It was an 9 year chapter…
Then the pandemic arrived.
The wellness center closed, my marriage came to an end, and life invited me into one of the deepest seasons of my own healing.
I began working in the world again in 2023, but the message was getting louder.
As I sat with myself, I noticed something I could no longer ignore.
So much of the beauty industry, despite the beautiful branding, still whispers the same message:
You are not enough.
Erase this.
Lift that.
Reverse aging.
Fight your body.
Correct yourself.
And I realized…
I no longer wanted to build my life around programming that is helping women wage war against themselves.
So I opened my own studio.
❤️(Big move COMING SOON)❤️
We don’t speak about anti-aging.
We don’t reduce a woman’s face to wrinkles or flaws.
We celebrate a life that has been lived and the wisdom of the body and Earth.
