đ August Is Driving Rehabilitation Awareness Month! đ
Driving provides independence, mobility, confidence, and connection to the community. But physical, cognitive, or visual changes can affect driving safety.
Driving rehabilitation is a specialized program designed to help individuals learn or regain the skills needed for safe, independent driving.
At Therapy Achievements, our program is led by occupational therapists who are Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (CDRS). We work with you to evaluate your abilities, identify challenges, and develop a plan focused on safety and independence.
Who Can We Help?
đš Drivers needing adaptive equipment: spinal cord injury, amputation, stroke, neuropathy
đš Drivers who may no longer be safe: dementia, brain injury, stroke, Parkinsonâs disease
đš New drivers with special needs: autism, ADHD, developmental delays
Our Program Includes:
â
In-clinic evaluation of vision, processing speed, and reaction time
â
On-the-road assessment of driving skills and safety
â
Risk-reduction strategies
â
Recommendations and training for adaptive equipment and hand controls
â
Recommendations regarding driving restrictions or cessation when appropriate
Our goal: help you maintain independence while keeping youâand everyone on the roadâas safe as possible.
