🚗 August Is Driving Rehabilitation Awareness Month! 🚗

Driving provides independence, mobility, confidence, and connection to the community. But physical, cognitive, or visual changes can affect driving safety.

Driving rehabilitation is a specialized program designed to help individuals learn or regain the skills needed for safe, independent driving.

At Therapy Achievements, our program is led by occupational therapists who are Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (CDRS). We work with you to evaluate your abilities, identify challenges, and develop a plan focused on safety and independence.

Who Can We Help?
🔹 Drivers needing adaptive equipment: spinal cord injury, amputation, stroke, neuropathy
🔹 Drivers who may no longer be safe: dementia, brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s disease
🔹 New drivers with special needs: autism, ADHD, developmental delays

Our Program Includes:
✅ In-clinic evaluation of vision, processing speed, and reaction time
✅ On-the-road assessment of driving skills and safety
✅ Risk-reduction strategies
✅ Recommendations and training for adaptive equipment and hand controls
✅ Recommendations regarding driving restrictions or cessation when appropriate

Our goal: help you maintain independence while keeping you—and everyone on the road—as safe as possible.

🚘 Have questions about driving safety or adaptive equipment? Contact Therapy Achievements to learn more about our Driving Rehabilitation Program.

Do you or someone you know experience arm and hand weakness after a stroke? IpsiHandÂŽ may be an option to help regain function.

What Is IpsiHandÂŽ?

IpsiHandÂŽ is an innovative stroke recovery device designed to help people improve arm and hand function. After a stroke, the muscles may remain healthy, but the brain can have difficulty sending movement signals to the affected hand.

How Does IpsiHandÂŽ Help?

IpsiHand® uses neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to form and strengthen neural connections after injury—to help retrain movement.

🧠 Imagine: You concentrate on moving your affected hand while a wearable EEG headset detects healthy brain activity associated with your movement intention.

🤖 Therapy: The IpsiHand® system interprets those signals and sends commands to a robotic handpiece, helping the hand open and close.

🔄 Reconnect: With repeated practice, the brain can strengthen existing pathways and develop new ones. In rehabilitation, we often say, “What fires together, wires together.”

Could IpsiHandÂŽ help improve your function and independence?

Join us for our next IpsiHandÂŽ Demo Day at Therapy Achievements in Huntsville, Alabama, and experience this innovative technology firsthand!
