As we end National Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to work forward and discuss stigma. Mental health stigma can prevent people from asking for help, opening up about struggles, or accessing treatment. One of the best ways to reduce stigma is through education, compassion, and normalizing conversations about mental health. Speaking openly, listening without judgment, and encouraging support can help create safer spaces for everyone. 💚

Sleep and mental health are closely connected. Poor sleep can increase stress, anxiety, irritability, and difficulty concentrating, while ongoing mental health struggles can also affect sleep quality. Creating healthy sleep habits such as limiting screen time before bed, keeping a consistent sleep schedule, and reducing caffeine intake can positively impact overall mental wellness. 🌱

Emotional regulation is the ability to manage and respond to emotions in healthy ways. This includes recognizing feelings, slowing down before reacting, and using coping skills to work through distress. Skills like deep breathing, grounding exercises, movement, journaling, and talking to supportive people can all help strengthen emotional regulation over time. 💚

Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic attacks. It can show up as overthinking, trouble sleeping, irritability, racing thoughts, avoidance, physical tension, stomach issues, or constantly expecting the worst. Understanding the signs of anxiety can help people recognize when it may be time to seek additional support or coping tools. 🌿

Burnout is more than feeling stressed or tired, it can impact your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Common signs include emotional exhaustion, irritability, difficulty concentrating, changes in sleep, feeling detached, and loss of motivation. Taking breaks, setting boundaries, and seeking support early can help prevent burnout from worsening. 💚

Help us welcome our new counseling intern, Cynthia!

Cynthia is passionate about creating a safe, welcoming space where individuals and families feel comfortable being themselves. She believes that feeling heard and understood is the foundation for meaningful change. Her approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy, allowing her to offer both practical tools and a compassionate, client-centered experience.

Cynthia has a Master’s degree in Addiction Counseling and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and has extensive experience supporting adults and adolescents in recovery. As a mom, she understands the real-life challenges of balancing responsibilities, relationships, and personal well-being. She strives to meet each client where they are, offering a supportive, judgment-free space for growth and healing.

Outside of the therapy room, Cynthia is usually with her kids, reading a good book, or trying out new recipes.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to remind our community that healing is not about being perfect, it’s about continuing to show up for yourself, one step at a time.

Some days growth looks big.
Some days it looks like simply making it through the day.
Both matter.

We are honored to support children, teens, adults, couples, and families as they navigate life’s challenges with courage and resilience.

You are worthy of care. Always. 🩵
