Birth centers are all about supporting physiologic birth — but that doesn’t mean we aren’t prepared. 🤍

Behind the calm, cozy environment, we keep important medications and supplies on hand to care for both mama and baby when needed.

💧 IV fluids for hydration and support
💊 Antibiotics when medically indicated
🩸 Pitocin and other measures to help manage postpartum bleeding or hemorrhage
👶 Vitamin K for baby, if parents choose it
🤢 Optional medications for nausea and vomiting
🩺 Plus emergency equipment and additional medications and supplies to help us respond when birth doesn’t go exactly according to plan

Our goal isn’t to use interventions routinely — it’s to have them available when they’re needed.

Because supporting physiologic birth and being medically prepared can exist in the same room. 🌿

October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month. 🤍

For the babies who were held for only a moment, the babies whose families never got the chance to hold them, and the babies who will be loved for a lifetime — we remember you.

We honor the mothers and fathers who carry both love and grief in the same heart. The families who remember due dates, birthdays, tiny kicks, ultrasound pictures, hopes, dreams, and all the moments that should have been.

There is no timeline for grief. There is no “right” way to carry a loss this deep.

Your baby mattered.
Your love matters.
Your grief matters.
And you are not alone. 🕯️🤍

This month, and always, we hold space for every family whose story includes a baby they wish were still in their arms.

That first cry is one of our favorite sounds—a brand-new set of lungs announcing, “I’m here!” while the whole room exhales with relief and joy.

From the intensity of birth to those first tiny cries, there is nothing quite like witnessing a family meet their newest little love. ✨

We don’t just fall in love with our clients… we fall in love with their whole families. 🤍

One of the sweetest parts of midwifery is getting to walk alongside families through such a sacred season of life. We get to know you, cheer you on, watch your family grow, and then somehow end up loving those sweet babies right along with you. 🥹

Our clients are never just clients to us. You become part of the Gentle Beginnings family—and getting to love on your babies after watching you work so hard to bring them earthside? That’s a pretty amazing perk of the job. 🤍

When they say, “Make yourself at home” during labor… mama said say less. 😂

Lights dimmed.
Birth pool filled.
Everyone else respectfully minding their business. ✨

One of our favorite things about home birth is watching moms find their way to labor. Maybe you want music and encouragement. Maybe you want your partner close. Or maybe you want to crawl into warm water, enter another dimension, and not speak to anyone for the next three hours. 😂

All valid.

Birth doesn’t have to look a certain way. When you feel safe, supported, and free to follow your instincts, you get to find the rhythm that works for you.

And sometimes that rhythm is simply: please turn the lights down and leave me to it. 🫶🏼😂

Home birth means you don’t have to leave your safe space to be deeply cared for. 🤍

It’s laboring in your own tub, your own room, surrounded by the sounds, smells, and people that feel like home—while your midwife quietly watches, listens, and keeps a close eye on both you and baby.

There is something so beautiful about care that doesn’t take over the room.
No unnecessary interruptions. No rushing the process. Just skilled hands, watchful eyes, and trust in the work your body is doing.

Home birth isn’t birth without care—it’s bringing the care to you. 🏡✨

Birth doesn’t always have to happen behind closed doors. 🤍

Sometimes it looks like siblings gathered close, watching their newest family member be gently cared for. It looks like curiosity, little hands, big feelings, and a brand-new baby already surrounded by the people who love them most.

When families choose to include their children in the birth space, we love getting to witness moments like these.

Because birth isn’t only the beginning of a baby’s story—it’s the beginning of a whole new chapter for the family. 🌿
