Community Highlight: We Rock the Spectrum Jacksonville

WRTS Jacksonville is more than a gym—it’s a place where children of all abilities can play, learn, and grow in a safe, sensory-friendly environment. Through purposeful play, children build skills in communication, social interaction, movement, self-confidence, and sensory processing while having fun.

Through the My Brother Rocks The Spectrum Foundation, they also provide social groups and activities that foster connection, friendship, and belonging for children across the spectrum.

We’re grateful for organizations like We Rock the Spectrum that help create a more inclusive community where every child has the opportunity to thrive. 💙

What an incredible day at the HEAL Surf Camp! 🏄

For 19 years, this event has brought together individuals with autism, their families, volunteers, and local surfers to create a day filled with confidence, connection, and unforgettable memories.

We love seeing our community come together to create opportunities for every individual to experience success, belonging, and joy.

A special thank you to Leslie Hale W**d for the vision and dedication that has made this beloved tradition possible year after year.

We’re excited to share an important leadership update within our team 💙
Please join us in congratulating Georgia Pace on her transition from Pediatric Clinical Director to Chief Executive Officer. Georgia has been an integral part of our organization, and her vision, compassion, and clinical expertise make her the perfect person to lead us forward.
Georgia’s mission is to partner with families to create holistic solutions and environments where each client can thrive as the unique individual God created them to be. She is deeply committed to challenging perceived limitations and championing the personal growth of every client through compassionate, individualized care. Georgia earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Notre Dame and her master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Early Childhood Special Education from Vanderbilt University. Her experience includes serving as a special education teacher in both private and public school settings, as well as working as a BCBA with a diverse range of clients.
We also want to honor our beloved CEO, Elaina, whose leadership has shaped who we are today. As she begins an exciting new chapter in Thailand supporting students abroad, we’re grateful she will continue to be part of our team in a billing and insurance role, sharing her knowledge and heart behind the scenes.
Please join us in celebrating both Georgia’s new role and Elaina’s continued journey with us 🌍!

Getting a child to appropriately gain someone’s attention can feel challenging—but it’s a skill that can be taught!

Try using N.A.W. 👇

Name – Teach your child to say the person’s name (verbally, sign, or AAC) instead of grabbing or interrupting

Ask – Once the person pauses and looks, model asking a clear question or making a request

Wait – Help them pause and wait for a response before moving forward

This strategy builds patience, respect, and functional communication skills. With practice and consistency, you’ll start to see fewer interruptions and more meaningful interactions!

Teaching Friendship Skills💌:

At Grace Abilities, we empower parents with simple, evidence-based ABA strategies to help children build meaningful friendships.

3 ways to encourage friendship skills at home:

1️⃣ Model kind vs. unkind choices using everyday moments (sharing toys, waiting turns, responding to “no”).
2️⃣ Provide specific praise for kind words and actions (“I love how you asked to join the game by saying your friends name in an inside voice!”).
3️⃣ Role-play common social situations and practice what to say or do before challenges happen.
