This Blood Collector's Week, we're celebrating the SUPER people who make every donation experience one filled with care, compassion and a personal touch.

From welcoming a first-time donor through the process to helping a longtime donor feel right at home (and having a little costume-y fun in-between) they make sure every donation is collected with care.

Twenty-five years later, we remember September 11 and the lives forever changed by that day.

In this 25th anniversary reflection, colleagues who were there share what they remember from the uncertainty of that day to the extraordinary generosity of donors who simply wanted to help.

Today, we remember the lives lost and the incredible generosity that followed September 11. And we remember something that remains true 25 years later: blood is needed every day—not only in times of crisis.

To every blood donor who has rolled up their sleeve in a moment of crisis or simply because someone, somewhere, needed them: thank you for continuing that spirit of service.🩸

Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost on 9/11 and the extraordinary courage of the people who answered the call to help.

Among them was Anna’s father, an NYPD Sergeant, 9/11 first responder, and dedicated blood donor who lived by a simple motto: “Get MAD” — Make A Difference.

Thanks to the generosity of blood donors, he lived nearly 20 more years filled with family milestones, memories, and a lasting legacy of service.

Today, Anna honors that legacy by donating blood and hosting blood drives herself, carrying his message forward through her own acts of service.

This 25th anniversary, we remember. We honor. And we make a difference—together.

When you get those extra special donors that come week after week to save lives... you can't help but become friends! 🤗

Longtime platelet donor Jim regularly sends us photos and words of praise for our Lee's Summit team members, especially Tori.

Just this week he said, "Tori does everything from vitals, putting people on platelet machine and monitoring to make sure everything is running smoothly. So 3 cheers to Tori and all she does every week!"

We are heartbroken by the violence in downtown Minneapolis and extend our deepest sympathies to the victims, their loved ones, first responders, healthcare teams, and everyone affected - including our colleagues at Memorial Blood Centers (MBC) who are supporting hospitals and patients in their community.

MBC has provided nearly 300 blood products to support victim care, and we remain ready to support them as needs evolve.

Some donations are about more than saving lives, they're also about honoring the ones we love. ❤️🩸

Michael recently made his first blood donation in memory of his father, who passed away from cancer. The donation was especially meaningful because it took place on what would have been his father's birthday.

By his side was his girlfriend, Melanie, a dedicated donor who has been giving blood for several years. Having donated regularly at workplace blood drives and typically rolling up her sleeve twice each year, Melanie was proud to support Michael during this special milestone.

Together, they turned a day of remembrance into a gift of hope for patients in need.
