Cutibacterium or c. acnes (formerly propionibacterium acnes) is the skin bacteria most associated with acne.
The skin hosts hundreds of bacteria but you don't see acne on the feet, shins or tops of hands. Rather, you see acne in places where certain bacteria (like c. acnes) reside.
