Summer cookouts and vacations often mean more alcohol, richer foods, and less routine, all things that can put extra strain on your liver.

A few simple habits help: moderate alcohol intake, stay hydrated, and balance heavier meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Your liver works hard year-round to filter toxins and support digestion, so a little extra care during the busiest season of the year goes a long way.

Staying hydrated isn't just about beating the heat, it plays a big role in keeping your digestive system running smoothly too.

Water helps move fiber through your gut, prevents constipation, and supports healthy digestion overall. Aim for water throughout the day, especially if you're spending time outdoors, traveling, or enjoying salty cookout favorites.

A few extra glasses of water can make a real difference for your gut this summer.

Summer is a great time to catch up on important preventive care. If you've been putting off your colonoscopy, now is the perfect opportunity to get it scheduled and checked off your list.

Colonoscopy is the gold standard for detection and prevention of colon cancer. Stool or blood-based testing misses most precancerous lesions. A colonoscopy prevents precancerous lesions from ever turning into cancer by finding and completely removing them in a single procedure.

Farmers market season is here, and it's a great time to load up on fiber-rich, fresh local produce. Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains support healthy digestion, help prevent constipation, and may even lower your risk of certain digestive conditions, including colon cancer.

Next time you're picking out summer squash, berries, or corn from a local stand, know that you're doing your gut a favor too. Small changes to your plate add up to big benefits for your digestive health.

Summer travel season is here! If you're hitting the road or the airport this month, your gut can use a little extra care too.

Travel often disrupts digestion thanks to new foods, irregular schedules, dehydration, and stress, leading to constipation, bloating, or an upset stomach.

Stay hydrated, pack fiber-friendly snacks, and try to keep some routine even on vacation. If digestive issues are slowing you down well beyond your trip, our team at Granite State Gastroenterology is here to help you get back on track.
