Pride East Texas Longview (PETL) is honored to present the Cunningham Award to Dr. Anita Scribner for her decades of service, advocacy, and unwavering support of the LGBTQ+ community.

As an infectious disease specialist and Chief Medical Officer at Special Health Resources, Dr. Scribner has spent more than 20 years providing compassionate, affirming healthcare to people living with HIV and other underserved populations across East Texas. Her work has helped countless LGBTQ+ individuals access quality healthcare, support, and dignity in times when many faced stigma and barriers to care.

Through her leadership, compassion, and commitment to treating every person with respect, Dr. Scribner has become a trusted ally and advocate for our community. Her dedication reflects the very values the Cunningham Award was created to recognize: love, unity, allyship, respect, and service.

June 5 is HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day—a day to honor and recognize the strength, resilience, and journeys of those who have been living with HIV for many years, including those diagnosed before 1996 and lifelong survivors.

Congratulations to Joe Davidson, LCDC, who retired last week after 22 remarkable years of service at Special Health Resources!

Joe, who served as a licensed chemical dependency counselor and supervisor, also worked in youth counseling, to***co and alcohol use awareness, adult outpatient treatment, and ultimately, in our Suboxone program.

Thank you, Joe, for tirelessly advocating for our patients, clients and community. Your work has transformed lives, enabling many to embrace a clean and sober future. You leave behind a legacy of sacrifice, compassion and hope that will inspire countless others for years to come!
