The Narconon network of rehab and prevention centers consists of more than 100 locations on six continents. Each Narconon center is non-profit, and is dedicated only to saving lives from the destruction of alcohol or drug addiction. The international headquarters for Narconon is located in Los Angeles, California. There are regional management offices in Copenhagen, Denmark; Milan, Italy; Clearwater, Florida; and Moscow City, Russia. Outcome monitoring and studies of results by Narconon itself or independent outside agencies prove again and again that the majority of Narconon rehab graduates not only retain their sobriety but also manifest a healthier lifestyle. These improvements show up as healthy lifestyles, improved productivity, holding a job or being enrolled in school and maintaining a safe and stable place to live and supportive relationships with family, friends and extended social network. Further, Narconon graduates normally show a huge reduction in criminal behavior or time spent incarcerated. Narconon has received commendations, recognitions and awards from the California State Legislature; the Cities of Los Angeles and New Orleans; the California Youth Authority; the Town of Conco, Italy;

For years, he searched for answers in drugs—psychedelics to “get there,” Ecstasy to feel empathy, and experiences that promised something more, but ultimately left him crashing back down.

Then, in 1999, he found Narconon.

After completing the program, he discovered a different way to live, reconnecting with himself and learning how to make life truly pleasurable without drugs.

Today, 27 years later, he remains drug-free and continues to give back through drug education, speaking to young people and sharing his story to help others understand that drugs aren’t the answer.

This Red Ribbon Week, his story is a reminder that behind every search for drugs is a person looking for something—and that there is another way forward.

One life changed. Twenty-seven years of giving back. And a message worth sharing. 💚

“I ended up on crack and he**in in a complete mess, about to either go to jail or kill myself.”

In this powerful account, Robert, a South-African born Narconon graduate from 1999 with over 26 years of sobriety, reflects on how his relationship with drugs began in his teens. He started drinking alcohol to find the confidence he felt he lacked, before moving on to cannabis and experimenting with psychedelics in search of answers. Later, ecstasy seemed to offer him the empathy he felt was missing from his life. But these experiences were temporary, and his drug use continued to escalate, from the rave scene to co***ne, and eventually crack and he**in.

As Robert explains, the experiences never lasted. He would come back down to the same problems in his life, while his situation continued to deteriorate until he reached breaking point.

Today, Robert uses his experience to educate others about drugs and their consequences, turning a difficult chapter of his life into an opportunity to make a difference.

His story is a reminder of the importance of understanding not just the substances people use, but what they may be searching for when they turn to them. At a time when psychedelics are attracting renewed interest and some people are looking to them for answers, Robert’s personal experience offers an important perspective to consider.

🎥 Watch Robert share his story in his own words.

These challenges can affect overall well-being and can play a role in relapse risk.

Why is sleep a challenge for so many people in recovery? And why is it important to address in treatment?

Swipe through to learn more about the science behind sleep disturbances in recovery and why sleep deserves a place in the conversation about treatment and lasting well-being.
