Great Leadership Begins With Me.

What a meaningful Saturday working with the Miami-Dade Parks team!

We explored how patience, emotional regulation, and leadership are skills that can be learned—and how the way we show up as adults can make a lasting difference in the lives of the children we serve.

I'm especially grateful to be doing this work with one of the many providers supported by The Children's Trust, whose investment in programs throughout our community helps create opportunities for children and families to thrive.

I'm excited to have Milena Díaz-Granados, one of our Triumph Steps®️ coaches, who worked in the summer with the children, continue Support this work with the team through ongoing coaching—helping staff take what they learned and put it into practice in the everyday moments that matter most.

Thank you, Mapi and Courtney, for listening to the needs of your staff and recognizing the value of continued support.

Proud that Triumph Steps®️ gets to be part of this journey—supporting the adults who make a difference in the lives of children every day.

To many triumphs in our journey! 🌟

Yesterday, I had the privilege of presenting Attorney Mental Health and Ethics: Wellness, Su***de Prevention, and Professional Responsibility, alongside attorney and mental health advocate Bruce Simpson, JD, MSW.

Bruce's willingness to openly share his personal journey brought extraordinary depth to our conversation about the pressures facing the legal profession—including perfectionism, stigma, professional identity, and the very real consequences of suffering in silence.

We explored not only attorney mental health, but the connection between well-being and our ethical responsibilities—including competence, diligence, and communication.

Thank you Wickard and Oliver Roberts for creating space for this important conversation, and a very special thank you to Bruce for his vulnerability, courage, and commitment to helping others.

Mental health and professional excellence are not separate conversations. Taking care of the person behind the professional is part of protecting both.

“A teacher affects eternity…” — Henry Brooks Adams

I had the privilege of spending time with nearly 50 educators at Good Shepherd School for a special presentation inspired by their theme, “Peace Begins With Me.”

Through teaching and coaching, we explored how caring for our minds, managing our thoughts, and choosing where we place our focus can create greater peace—not only within ourselves, but in our classrooms and relationships.

A special thank you to Principal Ms. Hernandez and School Counselor Ms. Solórzano for recognizing the importance of giving educators the tools to care for their own minds and well-being.

True leaders in a school never underestimate the lasting impact of their educators. When teachers are equipped with emotional literacy tools, that impact reaches far beyond them—to every student whose life they touch.

I had the pleasure of joining Dr. Sarah Young on the NeuroAlchemy podcast for a conversation about neuroplasticity, emotional literacy, prevention, and the incredible capacity we all have to intentionally shape our future.

We explored how emotional regulation is a skill that can be learned, why prevention matters, and how our brains can continue to change throughout life.

If you’re interested in personal growth, resilience, and creating lasting change, I hope you’ll give it a listen.

I’d love to hear what resonates with you!

🧠 Your brain is not fixed. Your patterns are not permanent.

What if emotional resilience could be taught before someone reached a breaking point?

In today’s episode of NeuroAlchemy: The Brain-Body Healing Podcast, I sit down with licensed psychotherapist Beatriz Martinez-Peñalver for a hopeful conversation about neuroplasticity, emotional regulation, and our ability to participate in shaping our future wiring.

After more than three decades in community mental health, Beatriz began exploring a prevention-based approach to emotional wellness. That question eventually became the foundation of her Triumph Steps framework.

Together, we explore:

✨ How repeated thoughts strengthen neural pathways
✨ Why emotional regulation is a trainable skill
✨ How fear and stress shape nervous system responses
✨ Identity reconstruction after adversity
✨ Visualization and future-self wiring
✨ Small daily practices that support resilience
✨ How to cultivate greater internal peace

At the heart of this conversation is a deeply empowering reminder:

Your brain can change. Your emotional patterns can evolve. You are an active participant in who you are becoming.

🌿 This week’s micro practice is the GLAD Practice:

G: What did you take for granted that you can appreciate today?
L: What did you learn?
A: What did you achieve?
D: What brought you delight?

Try it for the next seven nights and notice what begins to shift.

🎧 Listen to today’s episode, then come back and tell us:

Which part of the GLAD Practice do you most want to strengthen in your life?

Coaching gives direction.

Clinical experience gives perspective.

Together, they create a powerful path for transformation — without confusing coaching with therapy.

Clinicians are not “just becoming coaches.”

They are bringing their understanding of human behavior into a new, ethical, structured way of helping people grow.

Join us on Friday, July 17, from 8:30 AM–3:30 PM in Miami, FL for our 6-CEU workshop, Integrate Coaching Into Your Practice.

Learn how to ethically integrate coaching into your clinical work, understand the distinctions between therapy and coaching, and gain practical tools to help clients move from healing to lasting growth.

Anyone can learn coaching skills.

But years in mental health teach you what to notice, what to respect, and what not to ignore.

That is why clinicians don’t need to start from zero.

They need a coaching framework that allows them to use their expertise ethically and confidently.

Coaching helps people move forward.

Clinical training helps us understand what makes forward movement difficult.

Not to diagnose.
Not to treat.
Not to turn coaching into therapy.

But to coach with wisdom, structure, and a deep respect for how humans change.

A coach sees potential.

A clinician-coach also understands that growth is influenced by patterns, beliefs, fear, motivation, and past learning.

That doesn’t mean we do therapy in coaching.

It means we bring a deeper understanding of human behavior to the coaching process.

That is our advantage.
