💙PARENT REVIEW 💙
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
We have been going to physical therapy with Holly Rachels for the past 6-7 months for my son’s mobility issue, he has cerebral palsy and his left side is weak, he has some trouble walking and wears an Ankle Foot Orthosis. Holly has been incredibly patient and has listened to my son’s needs, she always has an exercise plan that is fun and engaging for him. My son also has ADHD, and he is amused and participative during his whole 60 minutes session. Also, thanks to Holly’s guidance, he has improved his mobility and is feeling more confident that he is even trying to run! The staff is very nice and the facility is clean and well organized, we love going to Gruene Therapy!

Back-to-School Success Starts Beyond the Classroom ✏️🎒

School isn’t just about reading, writing, and math—it’s also about having the skills to participate, learn, and feel successful throughout the day.
Pediatric occupational therapy can support students with:
🧠 Emotional regulation — recognizing emotions and using strategies to manage big feelings
✏️ Handwriting & fine motor skills — improving pencil grasp, letter formation, spacing, and endurance
🎒 School routines — building independence with organization, transitions, and classroom tasks
👟 Self-care skills — supporting independence with dressing, lunch, toileting, and other daily activities
🤝 Social participation — developing skills that help children engage with peers and teachers

Every child learns differently, and OT can help identify the barriers getting in the way of participation—and build practical strategies to help children thrive.

Here’s to a school year filled with confidence, independence, and growth! 💙

Ever wonder what "occupational therapy" actually means for a kiddo? ✨

In pediatrics, a child’s primary "occupation" is play, learning, and daily self-care! OT helps kids build the skills they need to navigate their world with confidence.

Here are just a few big areas we work on:
🖐️ Fine Motor: Holding a pencil, using scissors, buttoning a shirt
🧠 Sensory Integration: Processing sights, sounds, and textures without feeling overwhelmed
💪 Gross Motor & Coordination: Balance, jumping, and body awareness
🧸 Self-Regulation: Helping little nervous systems stay calm, focused, and ready to play

OT isn’t about "fixing" kids—it’s about discovering their strengths, adapting their environment, and turning everyday challenges into playful wins! 💛

⭐️ MEET Ms. Jillian 🌟

Jillian is a pediatric OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST with over 12 years of experience helping children build confidence, independence, and the skills needed to thrive in everyday life. Originally from Washington State, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Western Washington University before receiving her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Touro University Nevada in 2014. She later relocated to Texas, where she has dedicated her career to supporting children and families in pediatric outpatient settings.

Jillian is passionate about partnering with families to help children participate successfully in the activities that matter most to them. Her clinical interests include feeding therapy, neurodevelopmental treatment, visual processing, and early intervention. She works closely with families to create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that are both effective and engaging. Whether helping a child expand their food repertoire, develop foundational motor skills, improve self-care abilities, or reach developmental milestones, Jillian’s goal is to make therapy meaningful, functional, and fun while empowering families every step of the way.

Outside of the clinic, Jillian enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, son, and dogs. She loves experiencing the world through the eyes of her energetic 3-year-old, who keeps her laughing, learning, and embracing new adventures every day.

Occupational therapy can make a powerful difference in a toddler’s early development 🌱

For little ones who may be struggling with everyday skills, occupational therapy provides fun, play-based support that helps them grow with confidence. From improving fine motor skills like holding a crayon or feeding themselves, to building sensory processing and coordination, these small steps lead to big wins over time.

It also helps toddlers develop independence in daily routines—like dressing, playing, and interacting with others—while supporting emotional regulation and social skills along the way.

The best part? It doesn’t feel like “therapy” to them. It feels like play, exploration, and success 💛

Early support can set the foundation for a lifetime of learning and confidence. If you’ve ever had concerns about your child’s development, reaching out to an occupational therapist can be a great first step.

Is It “Behavior”… or a Sensory Need? 🤔

Sometimes what looks like defiance, hyperactivity, or meltdowns may actually be your child’s nervous system asking for help.

Common signs your child may have sensory needs:
✔️ Covers ears with everyday sounds
✔️ Avoids certain clothing textures
✔️ Constantly moving, crashing, jumping
✔️ Difficulty sitting still
✔️ Strong reactions to smells or food textures
✔️ Trouble transitioning between activities

When a child’s sensory system is overwhelmed (or under-responsive), their behavior is communication.

💡 The good news? Sensory strategies can make a big difference.

At Gruene Therapy Services, we help children:
• Improve regulation
• Build body awareness
• Increase focus
• Feel more confident in daily activities
