How Amazing is This ⬇️⬇️⬇️
David Latimer last watered his bottle garden in 1972. Decades later, its sealed ecosystem is still sustaining itself.
After watering the plant, Latimer sealed the glass bottle shut, creating a largely self-contained cycle. Water evaporates and condenses inside the bottle, while fallen plant material breaks down and returns nutrients to the soil. The plants use sunlight for photosynthesis, helping cycle gases within the container.
With sunlight as its outside energy source, the miniature ecosystem has endured for decades without regular watering or feeding.
