McLaren Northern Michigan made a commitment to ensure women and families in our region continue to have access to high-quality women's health and obstetric care close to home. As part of that commitment, we've established a new McLaren OB/GYN practice, now open in Petoskey and accepting new patients.

Patients will see familiar faces, including Holly McKinney, FNP, and Shelby Waibel, FNP-BC, with inpatient and outpatient obstetric physician coverage provided in partnership with Grand Traverse Women's Clinic.

From annual wellness exams and preventive screenings to pregnancy care and menopause management, our care team is here to support women through every stage of life.

We are thrilled to recognize an outstanding member of the McLaren Northern Michigan team with a Guardian Angel Award!

Melanie McArthur, Occupational Therapist, received the award with the support of her peers on the Acute Rehab Team in Petoskey.

Melanie’s award was given by a patient who received exceptional care:

On August 6th, the Bay Harbor Ladies Golf Association held a fun event to support the McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation Breast Health Fund.

Teeing off at 8 am at the beautiful Bay Harbor Golf Club course, 18 groups of 2, 3, or 4 golfers played a scramble-style tournament. Not only were the top 3 teams awarded with prizes, but golfers with the best cart decoration, closest to the hole, and the longest round also received awards. The fun day wrapped up with a luncheon and a check presentation to the Foundation.

Funds raised will support patients with breast cancer facing barriers to care, including transportation and financial challenges.

We extend our thanks to all who participated in this annual golf tournament to support patients and survivors of breast cancer right here in Northern Michigan.

Lasting community partnerships are crucial to meeting local needs, like the expansion of the McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Emergency Department.

The Cheboygan County Community Foundation has awarded the Foundation a $10,000 grant to support the expansion and renovation project.

“This grant will not only fund the Emergency Department expansion, it will create awareness and visibility of the project across Cheboygan County. We are honored to apply this grant to an important project that serves the community.” – Julie Jarema, Vice President, Chief Philanthropy Officer shared.

Fresh, local produce continues to keep our teams nourished and energized! 🥕🌽

As part of the Harvesting Health program sponsored by McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation, the August produce box featured fruits and vegetables purchased from Coveyou Farms and King Orchards for all McLaren Northern Michigan employees.

This team member wellness initiative ensures that during the busiest time of the year in our community, we support the teams providing health care to locals and visitors across Northern Michigan.
