Cross, board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery with board scores that put him in the top three percent nationwide, graduated as an AOA honors society member from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He received his general surgery and plastic surgery training at Cornell University, with residencies at New York Presbyterian Hospital on Manhattan's Upper East Side, and Columbia University on the Upper West Side. With luminaries in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery as his mentors, Dr. Cross also practiced in the Park and 5th Avenue offices of his professors, as well as at Manhattan's Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital, two of the country's epicenters for cosmetic surgery. As a research fellow at Northwestern University, Dr. Cross conducted clinical studies on aging skin and techniques that promote fast, effective healing; he later acted as the primary investigator for the Tissue Regeneration Project at Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Cross has authored five textbook chapters and has published extensively on aspects of both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, routinely presenting research results and papers at national meetings throughout the country. With his return to Philadelphia, Dr. Cross brings with him both traditional as well as the newest and most advanced techniques in esthetic surgery--ranging from surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation to body enhancement and body contouring procedures--and maintains an academic appointment at Cornell University Medical Center. His repertoire includes all areas of plastic surgery, especially facial procedures, breast augmentation and reduction, and the full complement of body procedures. Dr. Cross' philosophy centers on evaluating each procedure's approach through the lens of each patient's completely unique existing issues, as well as their hopes and goals. He then uses his breadth of experience to ensure that his patients receive long lasting, natural appearing results that reach their esthetic goals. Rather, the correct procedure must be chosen based on the needs of the individual. Dr. Cross believes that good plastic surgery means that a patient should not look as if they have had plastic surgery, rather they should look more harmonious and rejuvenated. Sometimes, the smallest structural changes can make the biggest difference. Just a few weeks out, and this patient is already looking incredible!

For this patient’s rhinoplasty, Dr. Cross focused on restoring support to the tip of the nose and columella. By rebuilding that foundational support, he was able to correct a hanging tip and reduce the amount of nostril show - creating a more balanced, refined, and supported result.

Paired with a blepharoplasty to refresh the eyes, the overall transformation is subtle, natural, and beautifully harmonious.

Stay tuned tomorrow as Dr. Cross takes a deeper dive into the details behind this procedure and breaks down exactly how this result was achieved.

Another Storytime with KC 👀

A patient recently told Dr. Cross that her friend had a facelift… under local anesthesia.

While certain facial procedures can be performed under local anesthesia, Dr. Cross explains why he rarely recommends local-only anesthesia for a facelift and why the anesthesia plan is an important part of the overall surgical experience.

Because when it comes to a procedure as involved as a facelift, comfort, safety, and surgical precision all matter.
