"My advice to anyone who is struggling with coming out is that the most important thing is to be yourself and be true to yourself." Andre was outed at the age of 17, but was able to find support from his family and could begin living as his true self. Now Andre DiCicco is our Chief Human Resources Officer at Philadelphia FIGHT and is ready to share his story with the world.

Mi consejo para cualquiera que esté luchando con salir del clóset es que lo más importante es ser uno mismo y ser fiel a uno mismo. Andre salió del clóset a los 17 años, pero pudo encontrar apoyo en su familia y comenzar a vivir como realmente es. Ahora, Andre DiCicco es nuestro Director de Recursos Humanos en Philadelphia FIGHT y está listo para compartir su historia con el mundo.

In celebration of National Coming Out Day, our amazing staff members are sharing their stories and journeys of coming out. Val Sowell, our Learning and Development Manager started coming out as q***r in 1993, and started coming out as trans in 2003. Val shares their story of coming out, and the joy and freedom that comes with it.

October is LGBTQ+ History Month, a time to honor LGBTQ+ People whose courage, leadership, and advocacy have made a lasting impact on our history, society, and culture. At Philadelphia FIGHT, we celebrate the legacies of iconic LGBTQ+ Philadelphians whose work advanced LGBTQ+ rights, HIV/AIDS advocacy, housing justice, public policy, community organizing, and created spaces for LGBTQ+ people of color. This October we are reminded that LGBTQ+ history is an integral part of Philadelphia's history.

Octubre es el Mes de la Historia LGBTQ+, un momento para honrar a las personas LGBTQ+ cuyo coraje, liderazgo y defensa han dejado un impacto duradero en nuestra historia, sociedad y cultura. En Philadelphia FIGHT, celebramos los legados de icónicas personas LGBTQ+ de Filadelfia cuyo trabajo impulsó los derechos LGBTQ+, la defensa del VIH/SIDA, la justicia en la vivienda, la política pública, la organización comunitaria y la creación de espacios para personas LGBTQ+ de color.
