MSDC empowers individuals with disabilities through day services, employment, residential support, Head Start, and community programs across Marshall, Starke, Pulaski, St. Beginning in 1965, Marshall-Starke provided a wide range of rehabilitative services to developmentally disabled individuals. Adult services have further been enhanced through the promotion of community employment and the provisi

on of valuable production alternatives for area business and industry which has resulted in positive and successful relationships in our communities. From these modest beginnings, Marshall-Starke branched into early childhood education for non-disabled and at-risk children through our Head Start, Early Head Start, and Healthy Families programs. The programs and services offered through Marshall-Starke and recognized by national accreditations, such as CARF and NAEYC, substantiate what recipients of our services have known for over 40 years that Marshall-Starke promotes a culture of compassion and a commitment to accountability.

πŸ’΅ Coffee, Conversation & a Little Bingo!

A big thank you to First Federal Savings Bank for spending time with our participants at MSDC!

Jordan and Jennifer brought in some unique money that can be ordered through the bank, shared some helpful banking terms, and then put everyone’s new knowledge to the test with a fun game of BINGO!

And of course, you can’t have Bingo without prizes! Our winners went home with some First Federal Savings Bank merch. πŸ™Œ

Thank you, Jordan and Jennifer, for making learning about banking fun, interactive, and easy to understand. We had the BEST time!

This is exactly what Coffee & Community is all about: bringing our community into MSDC to share what they know, answer questions, and create meaningful connections with our participants.

Interested in being one of our next Coffee & Community guests? We’d love to hear from you!

The need doesn't end with a denial.

Every day, individuals with disabilities rely on services that provide transportation, employment support, community involvement, and opportunities to live independently.

When a Medicaid waiver is delayed or denied, the uncertainty doesn't just affect paperwork. It affects real people, real families, and real lives.

That's why we created This Is The Need.

This campaign is about building a community safety net. It's about making sure that when uncertainty happens, we're prepared to continue supporting the people who depend on us while families navigate the appeals process and what's next.

πŸ’™ Here's how you can help today:
β€’ Share this reel to help raise awareness.
β€’ Start the conversation with your friends and family.
β€’ If you're able, make a gift to help us build a Plan B for the individuals we serve.

Together, we can protect independence, preserve opportunities, and remind every person we serve that they are not facing this alone.

This is a step forward. But the uncertainty isn't over.

Indiana lawmakers are calling for a pause to Medicaid waiver denials after concerns were raised about how families are being affected. That gives many families hope.

But here's the question we can't stop asking:

What happens if someone is still denied?

They don't stop needing support.

They still need transportation to work.

They still need a safe place to live.

They still need day services, employment support, and the opportunity to live as independently as possible.

They are still people.

At MSDC, we're preparing for what comes next. That's why we launched This Is The Need.

We're building a safety net so we can continue supporting individuals while denials are appealed and families navigate an uncertain process. Community support can help bridge that gap when funding alone isn't enough.

Please take a moment to read this update from WTHR, then learn why this campaign matters.

New month. Same core value that guides everything we do. πŸ’™

CHOICE.

At MSDC, every individual has a real voice in their own life β€” their goals, their activities, their future. We build programs around people, not the other way around.

Because independence begins with having a say.

🚨 This Is The Need. We Need Your Help.

Right now, more Indiana families are facing Medicaid waiver denials and uncertainty. Recent reporting shows that waiver denials have increased significantly, leaving many families wondering what comes next.

When a waiver is denied, the need doesn't disappear.

The individual still needs support.
The family still needs answers.
The appeal process can take time.

At MSDC, our commitment doesn't end because paperwork changes.

That's why we're asking our community to stand with us today.

Your donation helps us prepare for the unexpected. It gives us the ability to respond when funding is delayed, services are in question, or families need support while navigating the appeals process.

This isn't about replacing government funding.

It's about making sure we have a safety net when our neighbors need it most.

πŸ’™ Every gift helps protect independence.
πŸ’™ Every gift helps strengthen our community.
πŸ’™ Every gift helps create hope when uncertainty begins.

Please help us build that safety net before it's needed.

Sometimes, the most powerful words are simply... "Thank you." πŸ’™

Behind every milestone is someone who believed.

For Marcy, that means the staff who encouraged her, supported her, and helped her build the confidence to become more independent.

Their guidance has made a lasting difference, and this heartfelt message is her way of saying thank you.

At MSDC, we know independence isn't achieved alone. It's built through encouragement, patience, and people who genuinely care.

πŸŽ₯ Watch Marcy's message of gratitude and celebrate the incredible relationships that make our community so special.
