Zavison II, M.S., CCC-SLP graduated with a Master's of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida State University in July of 2022. He spent his first year following graduation working in a skilled nursing facility, diagnosing and treating a wide range of speech, language, and swallowing disorders. In 2024, Michael started Zavison Swallow Solutions, a company dedicated to diagnos

ing and treating Dysphagia. Zavison employs Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) to diagnose swallowing disorders, and creates a treatment program based on the individual needs of the patient. A self-proclaimed "foodie," Zavison is passionate about helping individuals in his care safely consume the highest practical diet possible.

We have our friends over for 4th of July. I asked, “who wants some thickened liquid?”

100% of everyone said, “no!”

Thickened liquids can be a serious problem for anyone with a diet order for it.

Imagine being in a hospital or skilled nursing facility and getting a cup of goo for every single meal and in every water cup.

Do you know anyone on thickened liquids who has NEVER had an instrumental swallow study to see if it’s even necessary?

Thickened liquids isn’t like wearing a seatbelt, where you use it “just to be cautious.” It’s a serious detriment to someone’s quality of life each and every day.

Wouldn’t you want to check and see if you ACTUALLY need thickened liquids before committing to a diet where all your drinks are slimy and goopy?

If you or a loved one has been ‘ordered’ to receive thickened liquids, give us a call and we can at least help point you in the right direction.
