Providence Portland is introducing new safety measures to help make our hospital the best place to give and receive care.

🗓️ Starting July 8, 2026:
• The main entrance will be open 5 a.m.–6 p.m.
• The cancer center entrance will be open 5 a.m.–6 p.m.
• The emergency department entrance will remain open 24/7

All other entrances will be for caregivers only, including the skybridge from the Glisan parking garage.

➡️ What to expect:
• Security screening is now in place at all public entrances. Please allow a few extra minutes when arriving.
• Weapons, illegal drugs and ma*****na are not permitted.

♻️ Save the date: Styrofoam collection returns June 27 ♻️

After an overwhelmingly successful January event — collecting five truckloads of Styrofoam and keeping it out of landfills — Providence is hosting its next FREE collection day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27.

Behind hospital on the north end of campus – follow signs

✅ Accepted: Clean, rigid Styrofoam that snaps when bent
❌ Not accepted: Soft/squishy foam or material with tape, plastic or debris

Justine Wypych, RN, Providence Portland Medical Center, has been recognized with a 2026 Nursing Excellence Award in behavioral health.

With 12 years of nursing experience, Justine is known for her strong clinical judgment, advocacy and trauma-informed approach. She prioritizes patient dignity while advancing safety for both patients and caregivers.

Her leadership helps create safer, more therapeutic environments that support stabilization and recovery.

June is Cancer Survivor Month, and every day Providence Cancer Institute - Oregon researchers are finding new treatments that lead help patients live longer and better.

One exciting approach brings together genetics and artificial intelligence to help find a patient’s “medical twin.” This allows the successful treatment of one patient to inform the treatment of another.
