Elizabeth, a nurse in the ICU at MHMMC Biddeford, has earned a DAISY Award for her care of a patient with heart failure. The patient shared she was feeling scared and overwhelmed by the information she was receiving until Elizabeth came in.

The patient wrote: “She was calm and caring, confident and knowledgeable, and wise with a grace of wisdom. Liz put all that complex information into a simple language for me. She answered every question I had. She was reassuring, connecting the dots for me. What was overwhelming to me became calm and peaceful. The unknown became knowledge. Suddenly, I was not alone.”

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses was created to recognize and honor the compassionate care nurses provide every day to the patients they serve. It is celebrated in over 5,400 healthcare facilities and nursing schools in 34 countries.

The picnics provided an opportunity for colleagues to relax, connect with one another and enjoy a meal together while celebrating the summer season.

Welcome, medical students! On Wednesday, MaineHealth welcomed the 42 members of the Tufts University School of Medicine - MaineHealth Maine Track Class of 2030 at the 18th annual Victor A. McKusick, MD, Lecture.

Students heard from Dr. Adam Normandin, a physician with MaineHealth Family Medicine, member of the Preble Street Learning Collaborative and Maine Track Class of 2015 alumnus, about how his experiences in the program helped shape his commitment to caring for people experiencing homelessness and advancing community-based models of care.

Maine Track students spend their first year at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and then spend three years receiving classroom instruction and community-based instruction here in Maine. We're looking forward to seeing them on the MHMMC campus!

Care team members from the Bramhall campus recently gathered for the annual summer picnic, enjoying a day filled with great food, entertainment and camaraderie.

The event featured a variety of activities, including lawn games, a magician, tarot card readings, face painting, caricature artists and live music, creating a festive atmosphere for attendees throughout the day. Colleagues had the opportunity to relax, connect with one another and celebrate the summer season together.

A special evening picnic was also held for night-shift staff in Impressions Café, ensuring team members working overnight could enjoy the festivities as well.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event a memorable celebration of our care team.
