We had a little treat today. Author Tammy Angell joined us for a special storytelling and book signing this afternoon of her book “In Samson’s Words.” A story about her dog’s journey in heaven. It was a great time to get together, learn more about her, and hear the wonderful story she wrote.

Last night, we cheered on the Salem RidgeYaks ! It was a spectacular night and a great chance to spend time with one another while cheering on one of our favorite baseball teams. We are thrilled to have TEN Friendship team members recognized as heroes by United Way of Virginia's Blue Ridge. For the past three years, they recognized the unsung individuals making a powerful impact across Virginia’s Blue Ridge. The Heroes Project honors those who go above and beyond to strengthen our community every day—often without recognition, including:

Looking for something new to do? Come join us for painting. Once a month, we paint with one of our volunteers, Pat, and today was amazing. This is just one of the many activities you can do here at Friendship Independent Living. Remember, socializing can help with your mental and physical health, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This Memorial Day, Friendship Retirement is pausing to remember the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you for all you have done. We would also like to say a huge thank you to our residents, staff and families who served, or are currently serving. It’s thanks to you that we have our freedom. Today we remember, reflect and say thank you to the brave men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

With Memorial Day just around the corner, we hosted a social earlier this afternoon. There was Deb's Frozen Lemonade, indoor co****le and a performance from the Friendship Singers. Can we say more? We had a wonderful time today.

Also, happy early Memorial Day. Thank you to the brave men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to our residents, staff, and their families who have served or are currently serving.

We had a ball at our Veterans Luncheon! We had a great time talking with one another and getting to know each other — all while enjoying lunch! Join us for our Veterans Luncheon, which takes place on the third Thursday of each month at noon. Having social connections is what Friendship is all about --- and the Mayo Clinic says being socially active can help you age healthily.

We’d also like to say an early Happy Memorial Day --- and remember the brave men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Also, thank you to our staff, residents, and families who served or are currently serving.

If you’re looking for a new workout, there’s nothing like Michelle’s strength & balance class to get you into tip-top shape. We had a great time this morning with her, and the good thing is that this class is designed for all fitness levels. Come join us. This class meets every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Also, don’t forget about the rest of our exercise classes. You can try all sorts of things from chair volleyball to cardio drums.

It’s Armed Forces Day. Here at Friendship, we’re pleased to honor the men and women in our Armed Forces. We’d also like to say a huge thank you to our residents, staff, and families who have served or are currently serving. Today we celebrate the men and women who are currently serving in all branches of our military. Thank you for your bravery today and every day.

We’d like to remind you to join us for our monthly Veterans Luncheon, held every third Thursday at noon on Friendship North’s campus. We’d love to see you there.
