Caring for the caregiver is important because caregivers need care, too. When caregivers take time to rest, recharge, and ask for help, they are better able to provide patient, compassionate, and consistent care for their loved one. Caregiver support can also help reduce stress, exhaustion, and burnout while protecting the caregiver’s own health and well-being. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself helps you take care of someone else.
